How to use the mindfulness for turbulent times series for self-care. Becca Nimmer Marcus has a passion for sharing how mindfulness can help us manage and enhance our lives. She finds mindfulness most helpful in her own life. She is Director of Mindfulness Training at the Center for Mindfulness and Authentic Excellence at the College of William & Mary. Becca teaches short courses in mindfulness to students, faculty and staff. She is a licensed clinical social worker and worked as a counselor at the William and Mary Counseling Center for over twenty years. She found mindfulness the most powerful tool she used to help clients she worked with through the years. She believes that everyone can learn the skills and benefit from the practice of mindfulness.
Learn how using all our senses and our observing mind rather than our thinking mind can be a powerful and satisfying experience.
This practice of bringing ourselves back to the present moment over and over is one of the most basic of mindfulness practices and one of the most powerful as well.
Where we focus our attention has a tremendous impact on our emotional experience.
A secret weapon to bring yourself back into the present moment, is helpful when feeling panicked or overwhelmed but can be used throughout the day to bring yourself back into the present (and out of a distracted mind).
The basis of mindfulness. Experience the power of mindfulness by practicing this throughout the day – it helps you learn to savor and fully experience our lives. We learn to focus on the present instead of being bogged down by thoughts of the past or anxiety about the future.
Learn to focus on your body (rather than the stories in your head)
A quick practice to use throughout the day, a mindful pause – helps us make wiser decisions and better care for ourselves.
A short way to calm and relax oneself when feeling overwhelmed, or just needing a reset.
