Banner Department Info
The Banner Image is the image across the top of your pages, prior to the content. You may choose to display the name of a department, program or office as text on top of the Banner Image. We call this the Banner Department Info, or Department Info for short.
Tip: You may also here this referred to as a "site title" because the Banner Department Info acts as a "home" button for visitors, linking to the index page of the folder set to display it.
Part 1 — Revealing the hidden field
- choose your Site (e.g., mason.wm.edu)
- choose Manage Site in the black header bar
- choose Metadata Sets from the Manage Site left menu
- choose the Folder Metadata Set from the main/right panel
- choose Edit from the top-right
- choose the Custom Fields tab along the top of the pop-up edit window
- find the section for Checkbox: Use Department info below?
- change the Visibility from Hidden to Visible
- find the section for Text: Department
- change the Visibility from Hidden to Visible
- choose Submit at the top-right
Part 2 — Editing the folder
- navigate to the folder where you wish to set the Department Info text on top of the Banner photo
- edit the folder
- choose the Properties tab along the top of the pop-up edit window
- check the box next to the field Use Department info below?
- in the Department field, type the text (department name) to appear on top of the Banner image
- Submit (and Publish if desired)
Part 3 — Hiding the field again
- same as part 1, except...
- for steps #8 & #10, change Visibility back to Hidden
