About Yilin

Hi, my name is Yilin Zhang, but you can call me by my English name Elaine. I’m a rising junior majoring in Psychology. I spent the first 18 years of my life in Jinan, China. I enjoy video games, reading for fun, and playing instruments like drums and the piano.

Favorite Spot on Campus

My favorite spot on-campus is the peaceful river (or Matoaka Lake) behind Botetourt Complex. I sometimes just find a sunny afternoon to sit at the riverbank, listen to music, do some light studying, or meditate.

Advice to New Students

If you struggle to be more engaged in this college, Student Happenings (weekly newsletter) is where you’ll find all sorts of activities, leadership opportunities, etc. I wish I had known this my freshman year.
