Hello, my name is Sowmya Bendapudi and I come from Gurgaon, India. I am enrolled in the MBA program at the College of William and Mary. Before moving to the United States of America, I was working in the advertising industry. I am passionate about marketing and communications. My hobbies are sketching, cycling, and pilates.

Favorite Spot on Campus

I have two favorite spots on-campus: The Lake Matoaka Amphitheatre and Sadler center. I like spending time at the amphitheatre because it oversees the lake and is quiet and peaceful. It is a great place to unwind and enjoy the beautiful weather of Williamsburg. I also love going to the Sadler center because it has a games arcade where one can chat and bond with their friends. It is a lively place because it hosts a variety of events every week which is a great way to connect with more people and build a sense of community and belonging. Sadler center also has an amazing canteen that provides variety of cuisines for students to explore.

Advice for New Students

My advice to new students joining William and Mary is to “Trust yourself”. You belong here and even though there will be times when you feel like things are not going your way, just relax and keep working hard. The end goal is to transform and become a better version of yourself. Be grateful and enjoy the process.
