W&M and VIMS also have international students and alumni who are in the U.S. while on Optional Practical Training (OPT) work authorization. Most individuals on OPT are recent graduates. The Office of International Students, Scholars and Programs continues to maintain their immigration records and advise them while they are on OPT, which typically lasts from 12 – 36 months.
