About Mike

Mike is the Director of Academic & Technology Support Services where he leads a team of professionals in offering and supporting the multitude of IT services required by the various facets of the university. His primary vision is to ensure faculty and staff receive not only the utmost quality of IT support, but also that technology services are aimed at serving the mission of the college, be it in an academic or support role. He aims to accomplish this vision through close collaborations with academic and support units.

Mike came to William & Mary in the fall of 2015. Prior to his arrival, Mike was the CIO and Director of Technology Services at Blue Ridge Community College. Before his time in higher education, Mike was the Director of Technology for Floyd County Schools for eight years. Prior to working in education, Mike worked as an IT consultant for various companies providing IT solutions and services to organizations varying from small-to-medium size businesses to larger organizations and government contracts. Along with various IT certifications, Mike has an Associate’s of Applied Science degree in Information Systems Technology from Lord Fairfax Community College, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology, a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, and a PhD in Instructional Design and Technology, all from Virginia Tech.

Much of Mike’s time outside of William & Mary surrounds raising his young family of three children with his wife Christy. Mike has also volunteered his time serving as a youth wrestling and Little League baseball coach.
