Biography

Xavier Starrs '24 is double majoring in Integrative Conservation and Government. In the future, he hopes to work with government agencies like Fish and Wildlife to foster meaningful connections with nature and promote sustainable use of its resources (and organisms). Xavier's passion for the environment started with the founding of William & Mary's first fishing club, the Matoaka Bottom Feeders. In this role, he serves as a leader, role model, and facilitator for the organization. As a part of the fishing club, he has partnered with over 30 fishing and conservation-related organizations to raise awareness, promote sustainability, and make a lasting difference for collegiate angling. In Xavier's role on the IIC's Student Leadership Council, he hopes to apply his field and leadership experience to offer innovative and interdisciplinary solutions, connecting W&M students to the natural world around them. In his free time, Xavier can be found rowing Lake Matoaka, playing intramurals on Busch field, or rooting for his favorite professional teams.
