Biography

Dr. Pallabi Kundu received has a variety of research experience working with bioactive glass, heavy metals tolerating microbes, and spider mites.

She received her Bachelor of Technology Degree in Biotechnology from the Heritage Institute of Technology (under the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology), Kolkata, India. She received her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Specialization: Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA. Her doctoral thesis focused on communication and sensory structures in arachnids.

Pallabi has a keen interest in and understanding of animal behavior and data science. At the IIC, she is developing and testing technologies to detect and potentially avoid bird-window collisions, which is one of the leading causes of bird death. 

Pallabi will also teach Conservation Biology for the IIC.
