D.C. Summer Session 2024
Program Costs
D.C. Summer Session students pay the same tuition and fees as undergraduates pay for summer courses on campus.

When registering for Summer Session classes, students are charged a one-time registration fee of $25.00 and a one-time comprehensive fee of $55.00. These fees are non-refundable.
Housing Costs
Although majority of the class sessions will be online, there will be a limited number of mandatory in-person class sessions. The W&M Washington Center does not provide designated student housing for D.C. Summer Session.
For those students who do not live locally, we are working with partner hotels to create a discounted room rate. Even discounted summer hotel rates in D.C. can be extremely high, however, so if costs are a concern, it's our recommendation to explore a "friends and family" housing option for the four nights of the in-person class sessions.
Financial Aid
W&M students can use grants, student loans, or families can take out a PLUS Loan, to cover the cost of Summer Session courses. Students must complete a FAFSA form to apply for loans. For questions regarding this process, please contact the W&M Financial Aid office.
Additionally, students can apply for scholarships provided through the Study in D.C. Scholarship Fund. Any Study in D.C. student is eligible to apply to receive funding through the Scholarship Fund.
Additional Student Spending in D.C.
The average cost per student will vary; however, most students report spending between $50-$100 in a week on groceries and other personal expenses and about $45 per week on Metro fare. We strongly recommend taking advantage of the various public transportation options that D.C. has to offer. The W&M Washington Center does not have available parking (overnight hotel parking can exceed $45/day). In addition, students traveling from out of state or the immediate D.C. area will have varying travel costs.
Withdrawals
If you've registered and paid your tuition, but now need to withdraw, contact the Bursar's Office for instructions.
Veterans Education Benefits
Students planning to use veterans education (GI Bill®) benefits should be aware that the Department of Veterans Affairs has determined that courses at William & Mary's D.C. campus are ineligible.
