Bio
Michael Becker, Visiting Assistant Professor of History, earned his Ph.D. in History from Duke University. He joins William & Mary from Brown University, where he was a postdoctoral fellow jointly appointed in the Ruth Simmons Center for the Study of Slavery & Justice and the John Carter Brown Library. Professor Becker’s research focuses on slavery, abolition, and resistance in 18th and 19th century Atlantic world. His teaching assignments will include Caribbean history, Colonial North America, US history to 1877, and "Writing Early American Lives."
