Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Undergraduate Program

Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (AMES) is an interdisciplinary program that aims to enrich the understanding of the Middle East, East Asia and South Asia. The AMES curriculum includes the study of history, politics, religion, literature, fine and media arts, performance, culture, and the major languages of the region. Students select a concentration track (major) in East Asian Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, or Comparative AMES, which encourages cross-regional inquiry. The AMES curriculum also includes three minors: East Asian Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, and South Asian Studies. AMES majors and AMES minors are encouraged to combine their academic study with service learning, study away, or study abroad.
