VIMS Cod Research

VIMS faculty and researchers are investigating the impact of environmental factors on cod spawning ranges. The CGA provides technical support to an REU using temperature, geological, bathymetry, and Atlantic cod location data to model and predict cod spawning ranges. The outcome of this research helps inform policies regarding Habitat Management Areas and has been presented at the Science Center for Marine Fisheries industry advisory board meeting.
