Organization Recruitment

Recruiting new people to join your organization is not about having a recruitment “season” or tabling at fairs. Recruitment is a 365 days-a-year thing. That doesn't’t have to mean that you are actively recruiting people all the time. It just means that everything you do you are thoughtful about how to reach new people on campus and beyond. A group that engages people 365 days a year, never has a recruitment “season”, they just need a designated time and process to take in and onboard new members.

365 Recruitment organizations do these 5 things:

They are approachable on campus & social media.
  • Approachable doesn't necessarily mean that you must be tabling on campus. At its core, being approachable means that there is a clear way for interested students to contact you.
  • Check out our Social Media resource
They have updated their TribeLink Page regularly.
  • Incoming students are sent to TribeLink to find organizations that might interest them. If your page is not up to date and/or no one checks it regularly, you are missing out on a great way to get your name out there.
  • Learn how to update your TribeLink page
They hold events that are open to interested people to attend and meet members of the organization all year
  • Holding events regularly that are open to people external to your organization can be one of the best and easiest ways to recruit people.
  • As more of our fall semester moves online, what are some creative virtual events you can hold?
They follow up with people that come out to events and info sessions not to "recruit," but just to check-in (people join people, so make your people approachable)
  • A simple email or DM can go miles in helping form a connection with someone who is interested in your organization
  • Use mobile check in to track attendance so you have list to use for following up.
They support the campus community and the other organizations that have a similar mission/purpose.
  • Feel like your organization is isolated? Get out there and co-plan events and initiatives with other groups who share your values. More people involved, means more exposure for your group.
