IT launches new website

Summary

In June, W&M IT launched a new website that features new pages with content curated for faculty, staff and students, highlights popular tools and services, shows how to subscribe for updates for the services you use most and much more!

Full Description

On June 5, 2023 William & Mary Information Technology launched a new website that has a new, refreshed look and elevates the content our community needs most. A new homepage with edge-to-edge rows stacks important pieces of information, including how to access W&M's service status website to check for outages and maintenance and new audience landing pages with content curated specifically for those audiences. Visitors can access anything they need from IT from the homepage.Several examples of the new IT website across devices

Homepage

The new IT homepage puts the most important information front-and-center without having to read through a lot of text. It is easy to scan so visitors can scroll through and find what they are looking for. From the homepage you can learn how and where to get help from one of our support technicians, submit an IT request, check for service status (outages and maintenance), browse our service library, see recent announcements, get quick links to popular tools and services, read the latest IT news stories and more.

Audience Landing Pages

In addition to a new homepage, the refreshed site also features three audience landing pages. Each page is filled with helpful information about our services and offerings for faculty, staff and students.

On the faculty page, faculty can find commonly used resources to help them be successful in their classes, research and work. In addition to being able to check service status, get help and browse all services from this landing page, faculty can also browse popular IT links and find content specifically for their class and research, like information on grading, creating courses in Blackboard, semester start up tips and more.

The staff landing page kicks off with information for those who are new to W&M and who need tips for getting started, including activating their username, ordering computers, authenticating their devices and accessing email. The staff page also pulls together links to helpful systems and tools used by staff at W&M, how to get help and how to subscribe for service status updates.

Like the staff page, the student landing page begins with content for those who are new to the university. Incoming students can find helpful information on how to set up their account, find laptop requirements, get software and more. There is also a section for current students to learn how to access television and digital cable and get their guests access to the W&M network.

In addition to information for incoming and current students, the students landing page also has information for departing students so they know when they will lose access to IT services after they graduate.

Services Library

The new-and-improved Services Library allows visitors to jump to a specific category of services, like response collection tools, videoconferencing software and storage options. If you are not quite sure what you are looking for you can use Control+F on PC or Command+F on Mac to search the entire page for relevant keywords.
