Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration

William & Mary's annual observance of Dr. King's legacy kicks off the spring semester. The William & Mary chapter of the NAACP organizes a Candlelight Vigil and readings of Dr. King's words. Following the vigil and walk across campus, students and community members gather for an address by a guest speaker.

Renowned journalist Roland S. Martin served as the keynote speaker for the annual commemoration event in 2019.
Participants light candles in the Wren Courtyard and march to the Sadler Center to hear the selected speaker give their address.
