Cara Alcorn
Cara Alcorn '18

Cara is a rising senior from Ashburn, Va. She has wanted to come to W&M since the 1st grade and is so happy to be at her dream school! She plans on majoring in Public Policy and minoring in Public Health. In addition to being a member of Kappa Delta sorority, she is involved with the Public Health Brigades. Every spring break, she goes to Honduras and complete public health projects. She is an avid runner and love being outside. Some fun facts about her are: she ran a half marathon at midnight in Iceland last summer and she has a pet hedgehog! 

 

Tanner Braman
Tanner Braman '19

Tanner is a rising junior from Seattle, WA. He is pursuing a degree in International Relations and a minor in Biochemistry. His long-term career objective is to become a surgeon, specializing in vascular medicine and trauma. Other than emergency medicine, his greatest interest is US foreign policy. He especially enjoys engaging in objective political discussion to create consensus. During his time in DC, he hopes to better understand the relationship between US domestic politics and the execution of foreign policy. Outside of academics, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, boxing, and volunteering in emergency medical capacities. He is a brother of the Kappa Delta Rho and Pershing Rifles fraternities.

Henri Brown
Henri Brown '19

Henri is a rising junior at William & Mary, double majoring in Government and Philosophy. He hopes to attend law school and get involved in politics, and he has a special interest in the intersection of public opinion and national policy. This past summer he worked for local delegate Monty Mason in his campaign for State Senate, and then served as a volunteer counselor for Camp Kesem. Outside of school, he loves running Spartan races, going skiing, and any sort of outdoor adventure he can find. He is super excited to experience life in the capitol this semester, and is sure that it will be an incredible opportunity!

Yousra Chaabane
Yousra Chaabane '19

Yousra is a rising junior at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She is an international student from the Netherlands and is currently pursuing a government major and an Arabic minor. On campus, she works as a tour guide for the Office of Admission and as a student intern for the Office of Student and Post-Graduate Development. Also, she is currently doing primary research with Professor Dicklitch-Nelson, assisting her in creating the Global Gay Rights Barometer. Besides that, she is a Resident Advisor and a member of the International Student Advisory Board. When she has a bit of free time, she loves to visit the downtown area and discover a new place to get good coffee.

Jennifer Cosgrove

Jenny is a rising junior from Palm City, Florida. She is a Public Policy major at the College, and is thrilled to have the opportunity to expand her studies in Washington, DC this fall. On campus, Jenny is an Editor for The Flat Hat, the Director of Alumnae Relations for her sorority, Delta Gamma, and a hostess at her favorite restaurant in town; Blue Talon. A political junkie from a military family, Jenny is excited to deepen her understanding of defense policy both in and out of the classroom. Having only visited DC once, she is looking forward to taking advantage of all our nation's capital has to offer.

Marc Dion

Marc is a rising junior at William & Mary majoring in International Relations and concentrating in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. Marc is an Assistant Editor for the Monitor Journal, a member of the College's International Relations Club, and a member of the environmental club on campus. Since the beginning of 2017 he has been working for ITPIR for the Teaching, Research, and International Politics project on campus. Marc is usually found relaxing on the Sadler Terrace on a sunny day or reading on the Sunken Gardens while on campus, or discussing future plans for travelling. Marc is originally from Canada, but has grown up in Singapore, Hong Kong, and the US, and looks forward to living and experiencing DC!

Nora Donnelly

Nora Donnelly '19

Nora is a rising junior at the college from Haddam, Connecticut. She is majoring in Government and minoring in English, and she is interested in the way the government and the media relate both to one another and to the American people. Nora transferred to the College her sophomore year from Trinity College Dublin. At Trinity she enjoyed having the opportunity to study a country’s political system while living in its capital city, and she is excited to have the same opportunity in the United States. On campus she is a writer and producer for William & Mary Television, and she likes to spend her free time hosting movie nights for her friends and walking around Colonial Williamsburg. She is looking forward to exploring DC, meeting new people, and learning more about her field of interest.

Kenny Ewell

Kenny Elwell '18

Kenny is a rising senior at The College of William & Mary majoring in Economics. He is from New Hampshire and transferred to William & Mary from the University of Vermont after two years. Kenny has also taken many courses in Government, German and Arabic. This summer he is studying in Germany through the W&M Potsdam Program. This semester Kenny is playing club water polo, and he enjoys outdoor activities like hiking. He is very excited for the opportunity to study national security politics in DC.

Ammon Frederick Harteis

Ammon is a rising junior at The College of William & Mary majoring in Government. He is interested in learning about how the federal government makes decisions regarding foreign policy, weapons of mass destruction, and terrorism. He hopes to pursue a career as a federal civil servant in the foreign or security policy field. In his free time, he likes to read, go for walks in the woods, and work at a local farm to table restaurant.

Jacob Hill

Jacob Hill is a rising junior at the College from Atlanta, Georgia. Jacob is primarily interested in civil rights and civil liberties law having worked summer internships at the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education in Philadelphia as well as the Georgia Justice Project in his home city of Atlanta. On campus, Jacob majors in Public Policy with a prospective minor in Psychology. Jacob is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, for which he served as chair of the philanthropy committee, and is a captain on the William & Mary Mock Trial team. Jacob is honored to have the opportunity to study in DC, and is excited to learn to do work that makes the world a better place.

Jessica is a rising senior at William & Mary pursuing a major in International Relations. Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, she now lives in Northern Virginia. Prior to attending W&M, Jessica earned her Associate’s Degree in International Studies. She is a research assistant for a government professor and has an independent business tutoring local students. In the future, Jessica hopes to have a career in civil service and is particularly interested in security and defense issues. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, photography, and spending time with friends and family. After spending time studying in Montpellier, France over the summer, Jessica is looking forward to spending a semester working in DC and learning about the intersection of defense issues and politics.

Sarah is a rising junior at William & Mary from Minnesota. She's majoring in International Relations with a minor in French, and is currently doing research at the Political Psychology and International Relations (PPIR) Lab! On campus, she's social chair of WM Women's Chorus, President of the Synchronized Swim team, and a member of the Mock Trial Team! She has broken 3 bones in her 3 semesters at college and is looking forward to an injury free semester in DC!

Maxine is a rising junior at the College majoring in International Relations. She is from Alexandria, Virginia and is at home in the DC area. On campus she is a WMSURE scholar and a member of the Political Psychology and International Relations lab. She is interested in security and foreign policy and hopes to return to DC to pursue a career in either area. Outside of academics she enjoys reading, dogs, and exploring new cities.

An is an international student from Beijing, China. He came to W&M after attending high school in Westchester, New York. A potential International Relations major, An is also a member of the IR club on campus. In addition, he is a member of the aviation club and takes flight lessons alongside. An is also a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and the Chinese Student Organization. In his free time, he enjoys flying, canoeing, fencing, and binge-watching TV shows and movies. He also promises that he is better looking in real life than his bio picture to the left!
