You will develop visual literacy, critical thinking, aesthetic judgment and a range of practical skills. You will also develop sophisticated communication and technical abilities that allow you to understand and respond both critically and productively to our world's visual culture. Hear from a Student
"The art history department has given me immense support and opportunities to explore all the different topics I'm passionate about. Classes are usually pretty small which means you have ample opportunity to connect with your professors and classmates. My professors have been sources of inspiration for me as I explore new areas to study within art history, as well as amazing mentors to receive advice and guidance from." — Maeve Marsh '23, business analytics and art history double major from Arlington, Virginia

Outcomes
The flexibility of the art & art history program allows students to pursue a wide range of careers in art, architecture, art history, museums, conservation/preservation, teaching and applied arts in business.
