Frank Dawson '94 (BA)- Currently teaching , now in my 20th year, in Health and Physical Education at Garfield HS in Garfield, NJ. Just completed 15th year as high school varsity wrestling official in New Jersey, working the sectional and district tournaments. I am starting my 15th year as head softball coach in Garfield this spring. Recently (2012), I was inducted into the Bergen County (NJ) Coaches Association "Century Club" for softball. I am currently the chairman of the Garfield HS Athletic Hall of Fame. Every year, I am responsible for producing our awards ceremony which attracts over 300 people every year and raises $5,000 in scholarship money for deserving Garfield HS student-athletes. Professionally, I received my Master's Degree (MA) in Coaching and Sport Management from Montclair State University in 2004. I presented my research project on sportsmanship trends in high schools in the state of New Jersey. Currently, I live in Rockaway, NJ with my wife Dana and my  two daughters, Shannon (11) and Erin (9). I look back on my time at William and Mary and I am very appreciative of the guidance and support I received from outstanding faculty in the department. The knowledge I learned from Drs.Charles, Kambis, McCoy, Crowe and Jackson have proved to be valuable in my professional career. I truly enjoy my career as a teacher in health and physical education.(3/17)

John Rockwell '96 (BS) - Working for UNC Hospitals as Administrative Director of Oncology.  We opened the new state of the art North Carolina Cancer Hospital this summer and things are moving quickly for the Cancer Center as a result significant investments in the program.  Prior to joining UNC I worked for several years traveling the country as a Business, Operations and Strategy Consultant to Hospitals of all types.  Many fond memories of Drs. McCoy, Kambis Charles and Deschenes and I'm certainly pleased and proud to see how well the department is doing. (10/09)

Gregory Friedman ‘97 (BS) -  After earning my BS degree from the Kinesiology Department at William & Mary, I attended the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) to study medicine. After receiving my MD degree from MCG, I moved on to the Medical School of the University of Alabama at Birmingham where I completed a residency in Pediatrics in 2005, and a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology in 2008. I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UAB. (10/12)

Rachel (Roche) Johnson '97 (BS) - I was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics at the University of Redlands. After 19 years as the Sports Information Director, I have moved into a more administrative role to support Bulldog Athletics. My position is the first of its kind in our department. Martha (Simms) Mikell '97 (BS)- I am living in Stuarts Draft, VA and teaching high school Chemistry & Anatomy. It's just not the same without being able to take my students on a field trip to see Dr. McCoy in the cadaver lab! :) (3/16)

Samuel (Lindsey) Steele '97 (BS)- I am still on active duty in the Navy, working as a flight surgeon assigned to a squadron at North Island, across the bay from San Diego. The work is a combination of primary care and aerospace medicine clinic, with some occupational medicine thrown in. It was a great field for indulging my interests in environmental physiology, medicine, and human performance. It's also allowed me to travel and occasionally enjoy work as play, logging back-seat hours in the F/A-18F Super Hornet as the senior flight surgeon at the West Coast's master jet base in Lemoore, CA. I've been playing too much and have absolutely zero real-life adult milestones to point to, so I am changing gears and hoping to return to academics at least part-time. My undergrad Kinesiology education gave me more than just a solid foundation for continuing work and study - it gave me a huge advantage. From coursework to academic writing and publishing, my future classmates were challenged and may have struggled with tasks that had been de rigueur at William and Mary. It's exciting to hear about new faculty positions, metabolic equipment, and of course Dr. Charles and his new status as a member of an elite fellowship. Congratulations!(2/17)

David Vicks '99 (BS) - I am currently serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard. Since graduating, I have earned a M.S. in Quality Management Systems, as well as a second M.S. in Strategic Intelligence, from the Defense Intelligence Agency's National Defense Intelligence College. I have served in a variety of positions over the last 10 years, including Search & Rescue Coordinator, Law Enforcement Boarding Officer, Supervisor of a Command Center, and currently as Chief of the Intelligence Division for North Carolina. Although I have largely moved away from Kinesiology during my career, I greatly value the education I received at W&M. As my Command's Health Promotion Coordinator and Wellness Coordinator (collateral duties), I regularly call upon many of the principles learned from Professors McCoy, Charles, Deschenes, and Kambis in order to serve my fellow Coast Guard members.
