Spring 2022 Golden Griffin Award Recipients

Emily LeForce - Campus Recreation

Core Value: Belonging, Professional Excellence

Emily is the graduate Assistant for the Tribe Adventure Program (TAP for short). She routinely goes above and beyond to make sure the trips run smoothly as well as act as a role model for her student employees. She has sacrificed so much of her time for the program - from facilitating canoe training during her time off to returning to campus in January to camp out in the freezing cold in order to train for outdoor winter activities. She is a bright spot in the office who will be quick to let you know when ABBA has released a new song. At the same time, she takes her work - both assistantship and otherwise - incredibly seriously, devoting ample time to make sure everything is completed well before the deadline. She hits curveballs out of the park and never shies away from a challenge. She is very deserving of the Golden Griffin Award!

Tracy Ordaz - Dean of Students Office

Core Values: Every Value

CURIOSITY: Tracy does not settle with an "I don't know." She will research and find a solution to any problem.

EXCELLENCE: Tracy excels in everything that she does. She provides excellent customer service and support to the DOSO staff, students, parents/caregivers, and manages all of the CAS and MRC petitions.

FLOURISHING: Tracy ensures that the Dean of Student’s Office continues to grow through its mission & vision of assisting students in their efforts to reach their full personal and academic potential through advocacy and support.

INTEGRITY: Tracy is forthcoming with her expectations, when she tells you that she will do something, you can count on her to get it done.

RESPECT: Tracy is a team player and demonstrates empathy, compassion, care, and concern for everyone.

SERVICE: Tracy offers help to any and every one, wherever there is a need. Despite all the responsibilities that she has on her plate as the Professional Administrator for two departments, she is still willing to lend a hand.

Shylan Scott - Residence Life

Core Value: Service

Since June 2021, Shylan has quietly taken on responsibilities for an increasing number of vacant positions in Residence Life. She managed the selection process for Residence Life student staff in addition to her own responsibilities, and has taken on oversight of several residence halls due to vacant Area Director positions. Shylan has never once complained, and remains focused on doing great work, and making the student experience the best it can be. She's been fantastic, and we want everyone to know!
