Wellness & Well-Being

Wellness resources and programming have been a priority within Student Affairs at William & Mary for many years. President Rowe and Provost Agouris desire to expand the emphasis on wellness and well-being across the university to include faculty and staff, while continuing to enhance student wellness services.

One aspect of this expansion will be to work with students, faculty and administrators to investigate and better understand W&M’s culture of “stress glorification,” its relationship to academic stress.  W&M seeks to identify the typical level of academic/workplace stress in a high-quality university and whether unnecessary stressors are cultivated or enabled at William & Mary. Academic stress and its relationship with wellness and well-being will be an important focus as William & Mary promotes greater awareness across the community and considers positive alternatives in services, programs, policies and procedures in order to increase the health of the university environment.
