About Lydia

Lydia has been the Public Relations and Events Manager at the William & Mary Whole of Government Center of Excellence since July 2023. Within this role, she showcases her expertise in handling various communication tasks, both internal and external, as well as planning and executes events all Whole of Government events. This includes managing social media platforms, drafting newsletters, creating briefings, website development, etc., and all aspects of event planning, from catering to venue specifications. 

Prior to joining William & Mary, Lydia held the position of Events Director at the University Club of Virginia Tech in Lane Stadium, where she demonstrated exceptional skills in event sales, surpassing a $1.6 million sales plan. Her role involved planning and organizing hundreds of events annually, accommodating varying attendance sizes ranging from 5 to 600 people, including VIP events. During her tenure, she was also actively involved in social media development, menu design, and communications related to the events team. 

Lydia graduated summa cum laude from Virginia Tech with a B.A. in Public Relations, with a specialization in Event Management. Her academic achievements are complimented by her practical experience as a teaching assistant for Catering Management and multiple internships in events and communications. These experiences have provided her with valuable exposure to in-person and virtual conference planning and creating social media posts and videos reaching over 5,000 impressions. 

Originally from Frederick, MD, Lydia currently resides in Norfolk, VA with her boyfriend, Jack, and dog, Hank.
