Application Requirements

Eligibility Criteria

Only applicants who have completed at least two (2) years from doctoral programs in counseling psychology or clinical psychology will be accepted for the advanced practicum training.

Application Procedure

Prepare a letter of interest that includes a sentence with the dates and times when you can be available for interviews. Ask a current clinical supervisor for a recommendation letter that describes your clinical practicum experience and your progress thus far. Send your interest letter and a copy of your vita to Dr. Alexandria Pappas (agpappas@wm.edu). Please ask a current clinical supervisor to e-mail the recommendation letter to Dr. Alexandria Pappas.

Training Year

Practicum students make a commitment for two consecutive semesters, which include participating in a mandatory orientation at the beginning of the fall semester. The advanced practicum orientation begins the week before classes start and ends the last week of final exams during the spring semester.

Positions

The Counseling Center provides 2 to 3 advanced practicum placements per academic year.

Stipend and Benefits

The advanced practicum position offers a salary of $9,000 paid on a twice a month basis. Advanced practicum students receive 5 days of combined annual leave, sick leave, and professional development leave for professional activities such as dissertation proposal defense, internship interviews, and conferences.

Advanced practicum students have access to offices with digital recording equipment, a personal computer linked to the University network, library privileges, eligibility to purchase a faculty/staff parking pass, and access to the Recreation Center.
