Sergio Palencia Frener, Assistant Professor of Anthropology, earned his PhD from The Graduate Center, City University of New York. Professor Palencia Frener is a Guatemalan and Central American anthropologist and sociologist. His areas of specialization include:  Historical and Visual anthropology; Critical Theory; Indigenous memories of the Cold War; Caste, ground-rent, and state formation in Latin America; Mesoamerican studies; Revolution and Genocide in 20th century Latin America. He will be teaching two Anthropology courses this coming Fall semester.
