Supporting a Healthy W&M Experience

Spring 2021 Update

Fall residential students who will be remote learning or not attending W&M for the spring semester may cancel their meal plan once a Housing Release Request is processed. Meal plans may be removed by visiting  Student Accounts could take up to 3 business days to be updated.

If the request is approved after February 5, email to remove your meal plan. Refunds are based on the date of request.

Dining To-Go Program

Given the current health condition, the W&M Public Health Advisory Team has recommended that W&M Dining operate solely as a to-go program.  If William & Mary keeps positivity rates reasonable, limited indoor seating will return with the start of in-person undergraduate classes on February 10th.

In line with the existing to-go program, students dining from residential dining facilities will receive to-go boxes as they swipe into the facility and will continue to customize their meals from the available stations.

Food will be served into containers by dining staff with appropriate PPE or pre-packaged. Individual soup and dessert containers will also be available. Additionally, staff in Marketplace and all retail dining locations on campus will serve food in packaging to allow meals to be taken to-go.  No seating will be available in dining locations.

Daily menus are available for review in the BiteU app that can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.  To help ensure quick selection and to reduce wait times, it is encouraged that students review the options prior to arriving at the facility. Students may also use the BiteU app for mobile-ordering at Marketplace, Cosi, Qdoba and Sadler Express.

Meal plans remain a required element of living on campus for undergraduate students. Students may make eligible changes to their meal plan by visiting before February 5. Fall meal plan selections automatically rolled to the spring semester. Undergraduate students enrolled in campus-managed housing for the first time this academic year, may now select an eligible meal plan at

To-Go Program FAQs
How many containers can students request at each facility?

Students will receive one upon entry and can request one additional container when they swipe into the dining hall.

Are the containers re-heatable?

Yes, containers are microwavable.

Can students bring their own containers to dining locations?

For health and safety purposes, students are not permitted to bring their own to-go containers for food or beverages.

Will additional trash/recycling receptacles be placed around campus? Will trash pick-up be increased?

Yes. We are working diligently with Facilities Management to ensure that additional trash/recycling/compost bins are placed throughout campus and that bins are monitored and emptied more frequently.

What if I am in a hurry? Are there any prepackaged meals available?

Yes. Meal swipes can be used to purchase Simply to Go options at Tribe Market, Sadler Express, Marketplace and the Student X-Change. Some entrees are prepared to be reheated at your convenience.

Will outdoor seating be available?

Outdoor seating will continue to be available throughout campus. When eating outside, students should eat in small groups.

I’m concerned I will run out of swipes if I have to take all my food to-go. What are my options?

If students prefer to eat smaller, more frequent meals then select either the Freedom meal plan which maximizes the number of available meal swipes or the Block 175 which provides $400 Dining Dollars to be used at retail locations. Students may also use Dining Dollars at residential dining locations for a $8 door rate.
