Film & Media Studies

The film & media studies program brings a perspective that is both interdisciplinary and global. You will explore the significance of film and media in representing and shaping cultures, societies, histories and collective and personal identities. The core courses will challenge you to think critically, creatively and globally about how media works as an aesthetic and cultural practice, while our production classes will take you "inside" video production.

Borrow cameras, software and audio/video equipment to bring projects to life.

Outcomes

Many film & media studies alumni pursue careers in media production from Hollywood to New York to Washington, D.C. and all over the mid-Atlantic region. They return regularly to offer seminars and workshops, mentor students and even hire new graduates. Alumni also work in areas like journalism, marketing, communications and teaching.
