Many of our alumni have been deeply involved in departmental productions as students and pursued careers in the performing arts after graduation. While many of these accomplished alums earned degrees from Theatre, Speech & Dance, some majored in other disciplines while embracing the liberal arts tradition at the College. Classes of 1950-1979Jean Weisz '55 (1933-2022) received her PhD in Art History from Harvard University. She taught art history at UCLA for 18 years while also being highly active in the Santa Cruz theatre community. She performed in several productions at Cabrillo College, including Grapes of Wrath and The Crucible. Weisz also co-founded a small acting troupe, Friends of Gus, that produced shows like 'night, Mother and Kindertransport. Peter Neufeld '58 (1936-2015) was an active producer and general manager on Broadway for almost 30 years. His production company, Gatchell and Neufeld, was involved in five Tony Award winning musicals, including Annie, Evita, and Cats. In 2005, he received a Tony Award for Excellence in Theatre. After a thriving career on Broadway, Neufeld became a leading advocate through his work for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDs. Linda Lavin '59 is a prominent Broadway and television actress/singer. She acted for nine seasons as the star of the TV sitcom Alice, for which she won two Golden Globe Awards for Best TV Actress in a Musical or Comedy and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. Lavin has also held credited roles in almost 70 shows and movies, including The O.C., The Good Wife, and The Back-up Plan. She has been nominated for six Tony Awards, and won the 1987 Best Performance by a Leading Actress award for her role in Broadway Bound. Anthony Gallo '61 is known as a prolific playwright. After retiring from a successful career as a banker, professor, and economist, Gallo went on to write over 60 dramatic works. He also founded the Seventh Street Playhouse in D.C. and the Eastern Market Studios motion picture company. His works include stage plays Margherita and Charleston Revisited, as well as musicals Vandergrift and Lincoln and God. Gallo's plays have been staged at premier venues such as the Kennedy Center, the National Press Club, and the Capital Fringe Festival. Scott Glenn '61 is a working film and television actor who has performed in over 100 projects. Among his most notable are roles in The Shipping News, Training Day, The Right Stuff, BackDraft, The Hunt For Red October, Camille, and Freedom Writers. Most recently, he played Red Murff in the film The Hill. Thomas Lipscomb '61 is an accomplished publisher, editor, and reporter currently working as a Senior Fellow with the Annenberg Center for the Digital Future (USC). He received a 2014 Playwrights' First Award for his play LAST MAN IN SPANDAU. Robert Wachs ’61 (1940-2013) was a theatrical lawyer and entertainment industry leader in television, film and comedy. He was owner of the Comic Strip Live comedy club in NYC, as well as a talent manager for artists like Eddie Murphy. Wachs was also a well-known film producer, with credits for Beverly Hills Cop, Beverly Hills Cop 2, Coming to America, Raw, Delirious, The Golden Child, Harlem Nights and Another 48 Hours. He was also the producer of the off-Broadway musical Last Dance. Patty Granville Holcomb '68 has been the Director of the Garland Center for the Performing Arts in Garland, TX since 1982. The center was renamed the Patty Granville Arts Center by Garland City Council in 2003 in her honor. She is also founder and producer of Garland Summer Musicals. William Ivey Long '69 is costume designer whose work has been showcased in over 100 Broadway, off-Broadway, film, and television productions. He has been nominated for 18 Tony Awards for costume design and won 6 (Cinderella, Hairspray, Grey Gardens, Nine, The Producers, and Crazy For You). Long was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in 2005. He received his MFA in design from Yale University. Patrick Stoner '69 is an active film critic, host, and producer for PBS. He hosts the review and interview shows FLICKS, QUICK PICS, and WHYY-TV. Stoner is a founding member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and a member of the Broadcasters Hall of Fame in Philadelphia. Steve Abramson '71 has served as the Segment Director on Dr. Phil since 2002. John Byers '71 has worked as an actor and voice-over performer, including the voice of Morris. Calvin Remsberg '72 (1949-2022) was a stage, television, and film performer, as well as an accomplished stage director. He appeared on stage in Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd, Cats, Oliver!, and Man of La Mancha. In television, he appearanced on The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, Cheers, Frasier, and The X-Files. His film credits include Pretty Woman, Shrek, Twilight of the Golds, and A River Made to Drown In. Remsberg also directed the following on stage: The Medium with fellow alumnus Glenn Close, The Crucible, Brigadoon, Once Upon a Mattress, Dracula, Triumph of Love, The Sound of Music, Urinetown, Sunday in the Park with George, and Death Takes a Holiday. Glenn Close '74 is a well-known stage, film, and television actress and producer. Her credits include Albert Nobbs, 101 Dalmations, The Stepford Wives, South Pacific, Air Force One, Sarah Plain and Tall, Reversal of Fortune, Dangerous Liaisons, Fatal Attraction, The Natural, The Big Chill, The World According to Garp, and Damages. She has won 3 Primetime Emmy Awards, 3 Tony Awards, 3 Golden Globe Awards, and 2 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Close delivered the 2019 W&M Commencement address and is the grand marshal of the 2023 Homecoming Parade. Joe Inscoe '74 is a film and television actor with over 80 appearances. His film credits include Lincoln, The New World, 42, Nell, Lassie, Hush, and Kiss the Girls. He has also appeared in House of Cards, East Bound and Down, TheWire, I'll Fly Away, Matlock, In the Heat of the Night, My Name is Bill W., and From the Earth to the Moon. His work on stage includes Death of a Salesman, King Lear, Race, Eurydice, To Kill a Mockingbird, Oliver!, The Woman in Black, and My Fair Lady. Sarah Williams Dixon '75 worked as a public school Drama teacher, where she helped design the Middle School Drama curriculum for Newport News schools. She was active in the Williamsburg Players as both an actor and director for a decade and returned to W&M Theatre in 1990 to teach various levels of acting. She then taught several years at the York County School of the Arts before returning to W&M through 2020. While at W&M, she directed two MainStage shows (Stop Kiss and Picasso at the Lapin Agile). Dixon still works with theatre teachers and shares lessons of the real Stanislavsky and his Active Analysis.
David Dudley '75 became the assistant technical director at William & Mary in 1977, and was later promoted to Technical DIrector and Lecturer in Theatre. In 2012, he received the Charles and Virginia Duke Award for outstanding service and dedication to the College. Mark Martino '75 is a musical theatre actor and director based in NYC. He was in the original Broadways casts of Oh, Brother! and Broadway Follies. Martino has worked with many venues and companies across the US, including Theatre Aspen, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, and the Philadelphia Theatre Company. Jeffrey West '75 is an active teacher, actor, director narrator, and coach. He currently teaches theatre at UNC Greensboro and Elon University. West's television appearances include Surface, One Tree Hill, Dawson's Creek, All My Children, and Guiding Light. His work in film includes The Dangerous Lives of Altarboys and Brookfield. West has also worked on stage in Angels in America, Millennium Approaches, Death of a Salesman, True West, Lost in Yonkers, The Crucible, How I Learned to Drive, and The Heiress. L. Kent Thompson '76 is an accomplished director, teacher, and leader in the dramatic arts. He served as the Artistic Director of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts for 12 season and as Artistic Director of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival for 12 years. In 2019, Thompson published his book Directing Professionally: A Practical Guide to Developing a Successful Career in Today's Theatre." He completed studies in acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Patricia Wesp '76 was the resident costume designer at W&M starting in 1983, and she served as Department Chair from 1999-2004. She has designed costumes and scenery for Duke University Drama, Charlotte Repertory Theatre, The Green Mountain Guild, Street 70, University of Florida, Michigan State University, and the Virginia Shakespeare Festival. She received Port Folio's Production Values award for the VSF production of Wild Oats. Peter Johnson '77 has been an actor, comic, and producer. He appeared in Longmont Theatre's production of Arsenic and Old Lace and has performed stand-up & sketch comedy on stage and for radio. Since 1987, Johnson has made over 18 short, feature, and independent films in Colorado. Sally Kessler '77 has worked in the costume shops of Shakespeare Theatre and the Washington National Opera in D.C. Michael Krass '77 is a costume designer in NYC. He has been involved in costume design for over 20 Broadway productions since 1996, as well as many Off-Broadway shows. He has been nominated for 4 Tony Awards and 2 Drama Desk Awards for his costume design work, including Hadestown in 2019. Krass has previously taught at NYU and Brown University. Steve Culp '78 is a prolific film and television. His film credits include Thirteen Days, James and the Giant Peach, Star Trek: Nemesis, and Nurse Betty. He has appeared in episodes of JAG,Star Trek: Enterprise, Traveller, and The West Wing. Culp has won two SAG Awards for his role in the ensemble of Desperate Housewives. Karen Hall '78 is a television writer, producer, and creative consultant. Her work includes: Best Laid Plans, The Women of Brewster Place, The Good Wife, Cupid, Jericho, I'll Fly Away, Northern Exposure, Darkness Before Dawn, The Betty Ford Story, Judging Amy, Moonlighting, Hill Street Blues, and M*A*S*H. She received a WGA Award for her writing on Hill Street Blues. Mark Stanley '78 is the current head of the Lighting Design program at Boston Univerrsity. He earned his MFA from the University of Wisconsin. Stanley then went on to become the Resident Designer for the New York City Opera for over 35 years, where he designed lighting for over 200 world premieres. |
Classes of 1980-1989Sheryl Anderson '80 is a television writer, producer, and author. She is best known for her work on Charmed, For the People, Dave's World, and most recently Sweet Magnolias on Netflix. She is also the author of the Molly Forrester book series. Anderson has taught at the UCLA Writer's Extension Program and now teaches at John Paul the Great Catholic University. Dylan Baker '80 is a prolific actor with many film and TV credits to his name. Among these are 13 Days, Disclosure, Random Hearts, Simply Irresistible, Happiness, Spider Man 2 & 3, Road to Perdition (co-star to Tom Hanks); Selma, numerous episodes of Law & Order, and God of Carnage on Broadway. In 1991, Baker was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in La Bête. Jefferson Sage '80 is a production designer and art director for film and TV. His art direction credits include Analyze This, One True Thing, Donnie Brasco, Roommates, and Blink. He was also production designer for Freaks and Geeks, The Bernie Mac Show, Bridesmaids, Bad Teacher, Paul, Funny People, Year One, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Knocked Up, and most recently Minx. Sage earned his MFA in theatre and Film Designf from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts. David Crank '82 is an accomplished art director and production designer. He received his MFA in Theatre Design from Carnegie Mellon University. He has completed and won awards for many major projects, including Knives Out, Lincoln (2012 Satellite Award), the HBO miniseries John Adams (2009 Art Directors Guild Award, 2008 Emmy Award), There Will Be Blood (2008 Art Directors Guild Award), The New World (2021 Oscar and BAFTA Film Award nominations), Hannibal, and Heart of Darkness (1995 CableACE Award). Chris Fretts '82 has worked as a Master Carpenter and Technical Director across the US. He has previously worked at the Virginia Stage Company, Berkshire Theatre Festival, and StageWest. Fretts is currently in his 25th year as Technical Director for Indiana Repertory Theatre. Brent Harris '82 is an active theatre performer based in NYC. He has recently performed on National Tours as Scar in Disney’s The Lion King and as Screwtape in The Screwtape Letters. Harris has also performed at numerous regional theatres across the US and has won awards from: The Beard of Avon, Portland Center Stage (Drammy Award), Ajax, American Repertory Theatre (IRNE nomination), Orson’s Shadow, and Philadelphia Theatre Company (Barrymore nomination).
Bill Schermerhorn '82, Creative Director of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, New York City and Emmy-winning songwriter. Hana Sellers '82 worked as a theatre designer and technical director until 2008, spending a majority of her time at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington, DC. While there, she was involved in the design and construction of their current space in Penn Quarter. She now works in event production, producing international events, presidential inaugurals and summits for the US State Department.
Chris Talbot '82 , Production, D.C. area John Taylor '82, Dance Teacher and Performer, Amsterdam, The Netherlands Denise Damon Wade '83 is currently Associate Professor of Dance at W&M. She earned her MFA in Dance from the University of Michigan. She has performed with the Peridance Ensemble (New York, NY), Telos Tanz Theatre (Stuttgart, Germany), Arlington Dance Theatre, Fairfax Ballet, and numerous Chris Quartana '83, House managing THE LION KING on Broadway Lisa Seidman '83, Headwriter POOR ANASTACIA (Russian mini-series); ONE LIFE TO LIVE Judy Clark '84 is an actress. Her appearances include The Tick, Hay Fever, Absence, Frasier, Joan of Arcadia, The Guardian, Crossing Jordan, What Goes On, and Outlaw. Gary Cowling '84 (1961-2020) was an actor based in NYC. His appearances included Law & Order, The Sopranos, The Namesake, Shooting Johnson Roebling (Hoboken Film Festival), The Accidental Husband, and Hustling (web series). Cowling was also the W&M Alumni and Friends Team Leader since 1992 for the AIDS Walk NY (1st Place Fundraising Team - Schools & Universities, 2009), as well as an adjunct professor of theatre at Brooklyn College since 2004. He earned his MFA in Acting from West Virginia University in 1986. George Jack '84 is Associate Professor of Theatre at St. Augustine's University in North Carolina. He has performed in over 100 professional stage productions and has been a prolific director, lighting and scenic designer, and producer of collegiate-level productions. Jack earned his MFA from the University of Louisville. Matt Ryan '85, Horatio in the Jude Law Hamlet on Broadway Elizabeth Hope Clancy '86 is a costume designer and fashion historian. She earned an MFA in Design for Yale University, and some of her most notable work include costume design for A Christmas Story: The Musical on Broadway, A Few Good Men on the West End, and NY Public Theatre‘s Passing Strange. Clancy previously taught at the Fashion Institute of Technology and is now a Lecturer at Rutger’s University. Ken Cole '86 earned his MFA in Technical Design and Production from Yale University. He has worked with many theatre, opera, music, and dance companies, and has taught professionally at both Southeast Missouri State University and Indiana University-South Bend. Cole is currently Technical Director and Associate Professional Faculty at the University of Notre Dame Department of Film, Television and Theatre. Drew Emery '86 earned his MFA in Playwriting from the University of Virginia. He has worked as a freelance writer in Washington state. Most notably, he was the producer and director of the documentary Inlaws & Outlaws, which won the Seattle Queer Film Festival’s Favorite Local Film Audience Award in 2005. David Johnston '86 is a playwright based in NYC. His plays have been produced in numerous theaters, including New Group, Moving Arts, Symphony Space, and Ensemble Studio Theatre. His off-Broadway play Candy & Dorothy won a GLAAD Media Award and his Conversations on Russian Literature was named in Time Out Best of 2007. Johnston has also written libretto and screenplays, which have been performed by groups like the Washington National Opera. Martha Mountain '86, Lighting Designer, D.C. area; Theater of the First Amendment, Kennedy Center Education department, Round House Theatre, Le Neon Theatre, Wolf Trap Opera Company; Resident lighting designer, Bowen McCauley Dance; Member, Eastern Regional Board of the United Scenic Artist, Local 829 (IATSE); adjunct theatre faculty George Mason University Mark Aldrich '87 has appeared in several TV shows, including Law & Order and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He also appeared as Seitz in Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical! released in 2017. Leslie Barry '87 earned an MFA in Lighting Design from UC Irvine. She then worked in a variety of positions at Stand Lighting and as Systems Designer at California Stage and Lighting. In 2000, Barry graduated from Whittier Law and now serves as a Child Welfare Law Specialist and specializes in child welfare appeals. Matthew DeLuca '87 has worked as an elementary school teacher in Mineola, NY for 28 years. He also serves as the director of the district’s middle school musical, high school fall play and the high school musical. Last year he directed his 50th show.
Chris Enright '87 is a television and film actor. His appearances include Santa Baby, The Ron Clark Story (TNT), Fargo (series), Damnation, Klondike, and Joe Pickett. James Hurt '87 has participated in community and regional theatre in the Richmond area. He appeared in the film Hannibal and as atmosphere in several others. Hurt has also worked as a children's theater performer. Linda Powell '87, Recurring role on LAW & ORDER: SVU;SPINNING INTO BUTTER Jeff Spoeri '87 is an accomplished development professional and advocate for education, now serving as the Associate Vice President for University Advancement at Lamar University.
Anne Toewe '87 earned her MFA in Costume Design from Tulane University and her PhD in Theatre Literature and Criticism from University of Colorado at Boulder. She has worked extensively as a freelance designer in Florida and Colorado for stage, film, television, and music videos. Toewe taught at many colleges, including New World School of the Arts and Florida Atlantic University. She is now Professor of Theatre Arts, Head of Design and Technology, Resident Costume Designer, and Interim Director for the University of Northern Colorado School of Theatre Arts and Dance.
Emily Beck '88 received her Master's degree from Yale University. She now works as a Scenic and Costume Designer in New York City. Bob Brinkerhoff '88 is an experienced general theatre and company manager based in NYC. After serving as company manager for several off-Broadway productions, Brinkerhoff worked as the Production Administrator for Wicked LLC (Broadway and National Tours). He is currently Business Manager at DR Theatrical Management. David Burke '88 is a working television actor based in LA. Burke is known for his recurring appearances in The Tick, Brothers & Sisters, and Joan of Arcadia. He has also appeared in popular shows such as Bones, Grey's Anatomy, The Dropout, and Frasier. Laura Carson '88 is a TV, film, and stage actress, and has recently become more involved in writing and producing. She has appeared in New Adventures of Old Christine, Over My Dead Body, and Law & Order: True Crime. Her recent projects include writing, producing, and performing in UnCorked (web series) and Invisible Virtual Table Read. Nancy Gunn '88 is an accomplished director, producer, and educator. She earned an MA in Directing for Theatre and an MFA in Theatre Production and Design from Tulane University. 
She has worked as a documentary and television producer with major companies and was involved in the following projects: Heroes of Iwo Jima, Lifetime Portrait: Harriet Tubman, The Amazing Race, The Apprentice, The Celebrity Apprentice, Hell’s Kitchen, Big Brother, and Stephen Spielberg’s On The Lot. Gunn was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award as Senior Producer of The Amazing Race in 2004.She is currently the Co-Artistic Director of the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival and Adjunct Professor of Theatre and Media at Tulane University. Gunn was the Convocation Speaker for the W&M Class of 2017. Carla Harting '88 earned her MFA in Acting from UC San Diego and now teaches there as Continuing Lecturer in Acting. Her TV and film credits include Law & Order and Never Forever. Harting has performed extensively on stage in works like August: Osage County (Craig Noel Award for Best Ensemble), Dreams of the Washer King, and several new plays by Sarah Ruhl. Sheri Holman '88 is a successful novelist, television writer, and producer. Her novels include The Dress Lodger, The Mammoth Cheese, and Witches on the Road Tonight, which won a Shirley Jackson Award and Independent Publisher Book Award in 2011. Some of her most notable television work includes George & Tammy, Palm Royale, and Longmire. She currently teaches in the Dramatic Writing department at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Doug Huszti '88 earned his MFA from Carnegie Mellon University in 1994. He has worked extensively in film and television, serving as Art Director in works like P.S. I Love You, American Gangster, Gotham, and Pose. Huszti’s work has been nominated for 7 Arts Director Guild Awards and 2 Primetime Emmy Awards. He won the 2011 Outstanding Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series Primetime Emmy for Boardwalk Empire. Susan Kattwinkel '88 earned her MA in Performing Arts from Emerson College and her PhD in Theatre History and Criticism from the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently Professor of Theatre at the College of Charleston, where she teaches courses on Theatre History and Dramaturgy. Bonnie McDonald Stark '88 Andrew Pang '88, Actor, touring with Thoroughly Modern Millie; voices for the video game NEVERWINTER NIGHTS Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr. '88, Actor, New York City; Off-Broadway: THE OLD SETTLER (Audelco Award for Best Supporting Actor), BETTY'S SUMMER VACATION, Sarah Ruhl's PASSION PLAY, A HARD HEART. Former Producing Artist with Obie-winning Epic Theatre Ensemble. Adjunct Acting Teacher currently at Binghamton University, formerly at Marymount Manhattan College and Cornell University. Audrea Topps-Harjo '88, Special and video effect producer, has worked on Stuart Little, Godzilla, Contact, Cast Away, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Kim Wilcox '88 received her MFA in Costume Design from Brandeis University and is now a costume designer for film and television. Her work has appeared in Nobody Walks, Boss, and Law and Order: SVU. Wilcox earned an Outstanding Costume Emmy nomination as assistant costume designer in 2000 and 2001 for The Sopranos. Most recently, she has designed for the Russo Brothers' Sony/Syfy series Deadly Class, season 1 of Mr. Robot, and season 2 of Stranger Things. Sherry Boone '89 is founder and Executive Artistic Producer of Opera at Home, established to share classical music with a wider audience. She has performed in many musical productions, including Carousel, Phantom of the Opera, and My Fair Lady. She has also appeared as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Toronto Symphony, among others. Boone has twice performed in Terrence McNally's Master Class alongside stars like Rita Moreno, Kathy Bates, and Jessica Lange. Melanie Martin Long '89 worked for 5 years as an actor, touring the country and being active in Atlanta theatre, before completing her MFA in Directing at the University of Minnesota. After directing regionally and off-Broadway for 10 years (including VSF’s A Midsummer’s Night Dream at W&M), she taught at Kennesaw State University for 18 years. Long created a course for The Great Courses called “Mastering Stage Presence” and recently became a yoga teacher.
Jennifer Piech Pasbjerg '89, Actor, New York City; POLLACK; LAW & ORDER Curtis Shumaker '89's career includes Broadway, Regional Theatre, feature film, and television work. His Broadway credits include Pygmalion directed by David Grindley, and recent television credits include appearances on Ways and Means for CBS, Love Life for HBO Max, Mrs. America for FX, and The Blacklist on NBC.

Classes of 1990-1999Kacey Camp '90 is a television and stage actress. Her television appearances include Without a Trace, 90210, Six Feet Under, Justified, and The Middle. Camp has also performed on stage with Alliance Theatre, the Celtic Arts Center, and the Attic Theatre. Tom Fiscella '90 is an actor in LA. His film and TV appearances include Man of the House, 24, Meet Me at the Barre, and The Mysterious Benedict Society. Fiscella’s stage experience includes The Kite Runner, Fiddler on the Roof, and an International Tour of Jersey Boys. Jeff A.R. Jones '90 has worked as a fight director, intimacy director, designer, and educator. Now an adjunct instructor at Elon University and William Peace University, Jones has previously worked as Resident Designer for the Carolina Ballet, Fight Director for many ventures, and adjunct faculty at Duke University. Jones earned an MFA from Florida State University. Bill Lawrence '90 Tracey Leigh '90 Kari Ardolino Rudgers '90, MFA in Theatre Management, Yale School of Drama, Production & Script Continuity on General Hospital. Louisa Kenny '91 has taught high school history and theatre for several years, while also maintaining hobbies in acting and music. She is now Supervisor of Humanities in the Bordentown district.
Patton Oswalt '91, KING OF QUEENS Mark Hankla '92 has been an actor, lighting designer, playwright, and house manager. He served as the Resident lighting and scenic designer for the American Globe Theatre in for 14 years. He is also the author of the children’s book Romeo and... Where’s Juliet? Mark Millhone '92 Kyle Rudgers '92 earned his MFA in Stage Management at University of California, San Diego. He then stage managed nationally and internationally, serving as Director of Operations at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington, D.C. and Production Manager at Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. He is the Assistant Production Manager at the Zoellner Arts Center.
Jeremy Axtell '93 received his MFA in Acting from Illinois State University. From there, he moved to Chicago and spent 7 years performing in non-Equity productions.
Jack Cummings III '93 is a five-time Drama Desk Award nominee for Outstanding Director. Beth Rohr Zitzman '93 completed a 9-month internship as a stage manager at the Juilliard Professional Intern Program after graduation. That was the beginning of 26 years working in the theatre industry as a stage and production in the NYC area -- some Broadway, some summer stock and Off-Broadway, but most notably, 20 seasons on the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
Sara Gmitter '94 is an Artistic Associate with Lookingglass Theatre Company. She has written numerous plays, including In the Garden: a Darwinian Love Story (2014 Joseph Jefferson Award nominee for Best New Work) and Villette; A Long Fatal Love Chase. In 2022, the Adrienne Shelly Foundation named Sara as the first recipient of their Playwright’s Award. She earned a MA in Peace Education from the University for Peace in Costa Rica. Kamara Thomas '96, Singer/songwriter Vivian Appler '97 received a certification from the Dell'Arte School of Physical Theatre, an MA in Performance Studies from Queen Mary University of London, and a PhD in Theatre History and Performance Studies from University of Pittsburgh. She served as a Visiting Instructor at W&M from 2009-10 before completing a performance project in Switzerland as a Fulbright Fellow in 2011. Classes of 2000-2009Timothy Cunningham '00 is a graduate of the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre and a performer with their professional company in residence, the Dell'Arte Company. Her play MAMA, I WISH I WERE SILVER won the 2022 Jane Chambers Award for Feminist Playwriting and was a Finalist for the 2023 Blue Ink Award. Recently, She was named as one of three Rising Leaders of Color by the Theatre Communications Group (TCG) for their 2023 cohort of theater journalists. Jason Blackwell '10 received his MPS in Arts and Cultural Management at the Pratt Institute in 2012. He served as the Associate Director of fellow alumnus Amanda Andrei's Every Night I Die at the 2011 Capital Fringe Festival. Since then, he has been an active arts administrator in the San Francisco Bay area. He currently works as the Director of Community Investment at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. He is now an active arts administrator at the American Repertory Theater, and has previously worked as House Manager at Bucks County Playhouse and producer and director of a play at the Capital Fringe Festival. Her work has been presented by Telos Tanz Theatre, Dance Place (Washington DC), Fairfax Ballet, “Yes, VA Dance Festival”, Kilmarnock Arts Center, Jamestown 2007 Celebration: “Journey of Destiny”, Colonial Williamsburg, William & Mary, and the Virginia Shakespeare Festival. Wade was Assistant Choreographer to Noèmie LaFrance for Cirque de Soleil’s Opening Ceremonies for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. Her most recent research includes contemporary dance choreography, musical theatre choreography, experimental film (creating dance for the camera), and Dance for People with Parkinson’s Disease.

In 2019, she left Radio City to become a production manager at Carnegie Hall. During the COVID shutdown, she relocated back to her hometown of Waynesboro, Virginia, and is now an event planner with the University of Virginia in their Office of Engagement.
Annoyance. He then helped start a touring improv company called Mission IMPROVable. Monohan toured for 3 years, then relocated to LA in 2006 for an MTV pilot (unreleased). In 2009, Monohan opened M.i.’s Westside Comedy Theater in Santa Monica and currently runs the corporate entertainment & training arm, Westside Corporate Creativity. And in 2023, he opened The Inkwell Tavern in Burbank.
