"I am interning with Just One Africa and the Hope Beyond Foundation in Kajiado County, Kenya. I have been training local leaders from the Police, Ministry of Health, Chiefs, County Level Administrators and others on SDG 5 and its application in this area. Specifically, we are concerned with combating FGM and Child Marriage. I have gone with the police to rescue girls from child marriage. I have gone to police stations, hospitals, and smaller medical facilities to follow up on the work they are doing and challenges they face when combating FGM and Child Marriage. Also, I have helped distribute water filters to rural communities. This includes training on the use of the filter systems and proper hygiene. These are the biggest projects in community development, government relations, gender justice, and child protection that I have been working on, though there are many other things." - Christian Bonds, MPP '20
