About the Performer

South Korean pianist Yoonie Han has been praised for her "flowing tones, poetic phrasing, and heavenly singing melodies" (Cincinnati Enquirer). Ms. Han has won top prizes at international competitions and accolades for her poetic performances in major concert halls throughout the United States and around the world. The Washington Post applauded her "musical imagination and feel for complex textures." She is the first-prize winner of the Washington International Piano Competition (2011), the Fulbright Concerto Competition (2011), Julliard's Gina Bachauer Piano Competition (2008), the World Piano Competition (2008) and the Koxciuszko Chopin Competition (2005). Ms. Han has performed at a wide variety of notable venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Berlin Philharmonie Hall, Finlandia Hall, Concergebouw in Amsterdam, and Se-jong Performing Arts Center in Korea. Her performances have been broadcast on WQXR-New York and on National Public Radio's Artist Showcases. Her concert will consist of piano works from the nineteenth century. 

Ms. Han made her solo debut with the Seoul Philharmonic at age 13 and has since performed with the Berlin Symphoniker, Buffalo Philharmonic, Helsinki Philharmonic, Houseton Symphony, Banff Festival Orchestra, and I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milan under renowned maestros. Ms. Han performed in a recital tour at the Steinway Halls in Europe and in the USA, and in 2013, she will release an album with Steinway Records. 

Ms. Han received a Bachelor's degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, studying with Eleanor Sokoloff, and a Masters of Music from The Julliard School as a pupil of Robert McDonald. She is working to complete her Doctorate at SUNY Stony Brook and continues studying with Philippe Entremont and Jean Saulnier. In 2012, Yoonie Han joined the Steinway Artist roster, a group of the most accomplished and discriminating artists in the world.
