Monica Seger

Background

Monica Seger’s research and teaching address twentieth and twenty-first century Italian literature, film and media; the environmental humanities; and gender studies. At William & Mary she is affiliate faculty in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies, and involved with the programs of Environmental Science & Policy and Film and Media Studies. She completed her B.A. at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and her M.A. and Ph.D. (2010) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Monica has recently published articles in ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment, The Italianist and Italian Studies. She is the author of Landscapes in Between: Environmental Change in Modern Italian Literature and Film (2015). She is currently working on a new project considering narrative expressions of toxic embodiment in contemporary Italy.

Monica Seger is the Sallie Gertrude Smoot Spears Term Distinguished Associate Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures for 2017 - 2020. She is on research leave for 2017-2018.
