Call For Funding
The Mission and Goals of the department express a faculty commitment to tutorial-based teaching that guides art and art history students to independent research and creativity. More and more students have undertaken significant year-long projects. To be successful, they need to visit museums, libraries, and archives, purchase design materials, and pay for printing and copying costs, which they have paid for themselves.
We would like to provide each honors student with $300 for research-related expenses. The faculty of Art and Art History asks for your assistance in providing funding for this important endeavor. Our goal is $3000. You may contribute online.
Research travel will have to be during the Fall semester. We need your support soon. Please help a student in art and art history achieve success. We have 10 students approved for honors research in art history and architectural design. Their topics range from the conservation of an 18th century painting in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation collection, to a study of the male portraits of Thomas Eakins, to the quilts of Gee’s Bend (Alabama), on to the works several artists of the second half of the 20th century, and rounding out the group is the design of a ‘Zero net’ farm complex for an island in the Philippine archipelago.
