Guidelines for Campus Use

These recommendations apply to the Wren Courtyard, Wren Yard, South Yard, North Yard, Wren Vista, and the Sir Christopher Wren Building.

General Recommendations for All
  • Anyone experiencing COVID-like symptoms should refrain from entering the Wren Building and seek medical attention
  • Face coverings are welcomed but not required.
  • Please observe all directional signs.
  • Please practice good hand hygiene.
  • Sanitizing wipes may only be used on modern desks and furniture. Do not wipe wood and antique furnishings with sanitizing wipes of any kind.  Occupants should report any need for enhanced cleaning to a building superintendent, Wren 101 Office, or email wrenevents@wm.edu.
  • Unscheduled classes, events, and tours may not be permitted depending on space availability and the existing schedule of activities.
Types of events and guidelines for each
Scheduled Classes

Classes in the Wren Building will be scheduled by the University Registrar. Faculty and students should check Banner Self-Service for any changes or updates to their individualized class scheduling.

Students and faculty are expected to clean individual desk space before and after use.

Do NOT attempt to clean walls, doors, door knobs, or railings. These surfaces are fragile and require special care.

Ad-Hoc Class Scheduling

Faculty who do not have regularly class time scheduled in the Wren may request access for registered classes by contacting [[wrenevents]].

Unscheduled access to the Wren Building is prohibited.

Department Events & Activities

Departments are eligible to host up to one private event in the Wren Building or on Historic Campus grounds per 30-day period.  Exceptions may be provided for W&M's signature events and traditions.

The organizing department is responsible for ensuring maximum capacities are not exceeded and all attendees follow health and safety guidelines.

Catered Events

Catered meals and receptions may be permitted on Historic Campus grounds so long as they do not interfere with classes and they meet all safety requirements. Departments may be financially responsible for erecting tents and renting/setting up furniture.

Departments must use University Caterering for all catering activities on Historic Campus grounds.

Departments must follow all safety regulations for serving food and beverages as determined by public health and safety officials.

Recognized student organizations are prohibited from hosting any catered events inside the Wren Building or on Historic Campus grounds.
