Identification of and service to the many communities affiliated with the Williamsburg Bray School are core elements of the Bray School Lab’s mission. We seek to connect individuals, families, and organizations to their ancestors.

Descendant research and engagement at the Bray School Lab are conducted according to the rubric established at the 2018 National Summit on Teaching Slavery, “Engaging Descendent Communities.”

The Bray School Lab has created a one-page fact sheet (pdf) on the Williamsburg Bray School as well as a compilation of all extant student lists affiliated with this school (pdf). These documents are a starting point in providing open access resources to all potential and known individuals connected to the Bray School descendant communities.
