About Us

The William & Mary Global Innovation Challenge (WMGIC) is a student-led organization that hosts premier case competitions. These events champion interdisciplinary collaboration and mobilize young adults to tackle global issues. Established in 2017, WMGIC provides undergraduate students worldwide a platform for open collaboration and discussion with peers, faculty, and knowledgeable professionals to analyze and create sustainable and scalable solutions. The competition increases students' knowledge about the case study, design thinking, holistic sustainability, innovative processes, and policy entrepreneurship.

Our Flagship Event, held in the spring semester, brings together teams of undergraduate students from around the globe to compete in a case competition rooted in international sustainable development. In just 24 hours, student teams receive mentorship from policymakers, researchers, and key stakeholders in order to develop unique solutions to the case topic. These ideas are finalized and presented to a panel of esteemed judges, who offer feedback and discuss the feasibility of real-world application.

As an accelerated version of WMGIC’s flagship event, our fall competition provides a platform for undergraduate students to develop solutions to global problems related to defense and diplomacy. For the second year, WMGIC has the distinct privilege of partnering with NATO HQ to host the Countering Disinformation Competition.

WMGIC is a recognized student organization at William & Mary and featured by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and the International Conference on Sustainable Development.
