Banner Photos

Banner photos appear at the top of every W&M webpage.

Because banner images respond in both size and appearance across different size devices, with a variety of text overlays, Photoshop templates are required to create banner photos.

Custom Banner Images

The University Web & Design team happily creates and updates all banner photos on the W&M website. Departments that would like to feature a custom set of banners for their websites may share original, uncropped images for review. Images must be high resolution (a minimum of 2000 pixels wide and 72 dpi). To submit a banner image request for the W&M website, email [[creative]]. For Business, Education, Law and VIMS websites, please coordinate banner image requests through your Cascade Manager.

Banner Sizes

To change the banner size, edit the folder and select a size (Inherit, Small or Medium) from the Banner Photo Size dropdown. The size you choose will apply to the entire folder by default (if you select medium, all of the pages within that folder will have medium banners).

There is also the option of having a large, high-impact visual for your banner image on a single page, called a hero image. If you're interested in exploring this option for a page, please email your Cascade Manager
