Disability Web Resources

Have questions? They've got answers!

We all know that with the wealth of resources and information available on the internet comes the challenge of weeding through the multitude of sites to find appropriate resources and accurate information.  When dealing with disability related resources, this can present an even greater challenge, due to the diversity of needs and questions and the sheer size of the potential target audience (nearly 50 million Americans with disabilities, plus their family, friends, supervisors, coworkers, etc.), not to mention issues related to using assistive technology with user-unfriendly sites.  To help overcome this, some organizations have created websites designed to connect people with disability questions to appropriate resources with answers.

One preeminent example is, a federal website whose stated mission is to “connect people with disabilities, their family members, Veterans, caregivers, employers, service providers and others with the resources they need to ensure that people of all abilities can fully participate in the workplace and in their communities.” The website offers personalization features and focuses on ten main subject areas: benefits, civil rights, community life, education, emergency preparedness, employment, health, housing, technology and transportation.
