Meet Our New Media Fellows

Boyd
Robert Boyd
Chaumont
Emily Chaumont

Emily Chaumont is a sophomore at the College originally from Manassas, Virginia. She is double majoring in English and Gender, Sexuality, Women's Studies and aspires to pursue a career in journalism, media, or public relations. On campus, Emily is the Variety Editor of The Flat Hat and a member of The Flat Hat's Editorial Board. Off campus, she works as a nursery attendant at the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, writing in her journal, and catching up on the news. Emily is excited to participate in the New Media Institute and gain new experiences in DC.

Curran
Annie Curran

Annie Curran is a senior at the College from Annandale Virginia. She is an English and Film and Media Studies double major. On campus Annie has served as an editor for The Flat Hat Newspaper, a Tribe Ambassador, a sister of the Gamma Phi Beta Social sorority, and as a member of the Mortar Board Senior Honor Society. She is also involved with the W&M Global Film Festival, serving as a member of the Creative Committee and as the Web Master. Annie has studied abroad in Galway, Ireland and Exeter, England. During her time in Galway, Annie worked with nine other students to make a feature-length documentary. In summer 2013, she worked as the Strategic Communications intern for the Urban Land Institute in Washington, D.C. In summer 2015, she volunteered with the Clifton Film Fest. In her free time, Annie loves to travel, read, hike, and canoe on Lake Matoaka with her friends. Annie wants to pursue a career in film editing. She is looking forward to interning again in Washington, D.C. 

Hyon
Iris Hyon

Iris Hyon is a sophomore at the College from Chantilly, Virginia. She is pursuing an English major and considering a minor in Computer Science. Her professional aspirations are to pursue a career in the fields of journalism and digital media. On campus Iris is the Social Media Editor of the Flat Hat, a volunteer for Campus Kitchens, a sister of Delta Gamma sorority, and a frequent consumer of Marketplace chicken tenders. In her free time, Iris enjoys rereading Harry Potter and building a shrine to Beyonce. Iris is excited to be a fellow of the New Media Institute this summer and anticipates learning and experiencing everything DC has to offer. 

Andrew Ingram

Drew Ingram is a freshman at the College from Fairfax, Virginia. He is still deciding between studying International Relations or Business but he is sure to major in French. On campus, Drew is involved in many clubs, including the International Relations Club and looks forward to directing his first committee. Drew has traveled all over Europe and took that opportunity to learn to speak French. In his spare time, he is most often found watching Survivor with his two cats. Drew looks forward to participating in the DC program this summer.

Jiang
Rosie Jiaying Jiang

Rosie Jiaying Jiang is currently a sophomore year student at the College of William and Mary, pursuing a major in history and a minor in art. She is originally from Hangzhou, China, and was a voluntary city tour guide during high school. As a movie addict, she has participated in Hangzhou Asian Film Festival for two years; the experience allows her to understand her own passion in the film industry. She loves theatre and played the role of “Chang’e” in harvest moon festival showcase, 2015. A bookworm, she also enjoys writing tremendously and has been a member of  China Youth Writers and Reporters Association for ten years. Always fascinated by novelty, she has travelled to many places and loves photographing along the journey. Interested in the various role media plays in the contemporary society, she wishes to know more about film industries and about contribution of media to the promotion of art. She looks forward to spending the following summer in DC. 

Luckenbaugh
Joshua Luckenbaugh

Josh Luckenbaugh is a sophomore at the College of William & Mary from Leesburg, Virginia. He is pursuing a major in English and is deciding between a minor in Film & Media Studies or Economics. At the College Josh is an Associate Sports Editor for The Flat Hat, a Research Assistant for Professor Terry Meyers in the English department, and a member of the Ministry Team of Reformed University Fellowship. Last summer he started his own blog “Sixth and Lastly”, where he writes about film and television. In his spare time Josh enjoys reading, watching movies and television shows with friends, and staying caught up on all the latest news in sports and entertainment. He is interested in professional journalism and is excited to explore the evolution of the industry in the context of Washington, DC. Josh is looking forward to an amazing summer as a fellow in the New Media Institute and can’t wait to learn and experience everything DC has to offer.

Moore
Elizabeth Moore

Lizzie is a freshman at the College of William and Mary from Washington, DC. She is interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marketing from William and Mary's Mason School of Business. On campus, Lizzie serves as Hall Council secretary for the Outer Limits residence halls. She is also a member Alma Mater Productions (AMP), the largest event-planning board on campus. In Washington, DC, she worked as an intern for USA Today’s TV critic at the USA Today headquarters. She was responsible for assisting with video productions, editing blog posts for the newspaper’s Life section, and reviewing TV pilots for the upcoming Fall season. She spends her summers in Corolla, NC, where she works as a docent and tour guide at the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. In her free time, she enjoys sailing and spending time with her three brothers.

Morris
Lidia Morris

Lidia Morris is a sophomore from Alexandria, Virginia pursuing a major in Film and Media Studies, with a minor in Hispanic Studies. On campus Lidia works social media for the W&M Global Film Festival Public Relations Team, as well as being involved in the club Vox, which promotes sexual health and education, and works in ticket sales for the Theatre Department at PBK. Lidia is interested in the news and media industries, both in English and in Spanish, LGBT media, and the eternally growing and evolving landscape of social media. In her spare time, Lidia loves to watch cheesy spy films and late-night television talk shows, especially if she is with friends, or her dog. Lidia hopes to one-day work in the news media industry, especially if it involves social media. But for now, she is a little scared and a lot excited about what this summer with DCSI has to hold.

Nutter
Caroline Nutter

Caroline is a rising junior at the College of William and Mary. She is designing her own major in Global Ethics, an interdisciplinary approach that combines the study of economics, sociology, government, and philosophy. She is fluent in French and proficient in Spanish. Caroline is the photography editor and one of the news associate editors for the College's student-run paper, the Flat Hat. Caroline is an active member of the International Relations Club on campus. She spent a year spanning her freshman and sophomore year as the Conference Development Director for WMHSMUN, an annual Model United Nations conference that hosts 1,500 high school delegates put on by the IR Club. Additionally, Caroline works as a research assistant for AidData, a USAID-funded project based in Williamsburg that collects, analyses, and presents data to development agencies worldwide to produce better, evidence-driven development. Caroline is also a member of Vox, Voices for Planned Parenthood, Amnesty International, and WCWM, the College's radio station.

Ruiz
Sarah Ruiz

Sarah Ruiz is currently a sophomore Monroe Scholar at the College and hails from the City of Richmond, VA. She is a currently undecided but is looking at a double majoring in Environmental Science and Policy and Anthropology, or designing her own major in science and communication. She is the Variety Section Editor for the Flat Hat as well as a Writing Consultant at the College’s Writing Resources Center. She is considering a career in the field of journalism or communications — ideally she would love to work in a field that allows her to incorporate her love of science into her writing. She is also very interested in multimedia forms of storytelling and the direction journalism will take in the digital age. In her free time you can find her drawing, painting, writing, watching Doctor Who and reading for fun. She also hopes to write a book one day.

Stephenson
Elizabeth Stephenson

Elizabeth Stephenson is a freshman with roots in Virginia Beach, VA.  She plans to major in Business Analytics with thoughts of minoring in sociology, economics, or even government.  At the College she serves on the AMP Interns Committee, is involved with WCWM 90.9 Radio, and is a sister of Pi Beta Phi.  She is passionate about photography and has made a business of taking portraits for people in her hometown.  She looks forward to incorporating her creative and analytical perspectives into her experience this summer. 

Trainor
Brandon Trainor

Brandon Trainor is a senior at William & Mary originally from Yorktown, Virginia. He is an English major with a minor in Philosophy who has also extensively studied audio production, Japanese cultural studies, and critical film analysis during his time at the College. Currently he is a member of the public relations committee for the William & Mary Global Film Festival, providing a variety of online and interpersonal media outreach for the event, as well as the prose board for the William & Mary Review. His greatest passion is writing, having had a variety of critical essays and short stories published in multiple on-campus publications and online. Upon graduation, he hopes to find a future career in pop culture journalism and criticism or media publication/distribution.

Wahrenberger
Nathaniel Wahrenberger

Nate is a rising Senior at the College of William and Mary. He is studying Philosophy with a minor in Marketing. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Nate is interested in exploring business and marketing, and wants to learn more about the news and media industry. Nate currently serves as an Associate News Editor at the Flat Hat. He also works as a student caller for William and Mary Phonathon. In his free time, Nate plays for the William and Mary soccer club, for which he is the treasurer. He plays piano for the student jazz ensemble, and is a brother in Phi Sigma Pi National Honors Fraternity.
