Auxiliary Services (Bookstore, Conference Services, Dining, Parking & Transportation, Postal Services, Print Shop, Tribe Card) - Auxiliary Services supports campus life by providing essential resources for students, faculty, staff, and guests. Our services include the Bookstore for textbooks and merchandise, Dining through varied meal plans and venues, and Conference Services for events and meetings. Parking & Transportation ensures accessible campus mobility, while Postal Services handles mailing needs and the Print Shop offers custom printing solutions. The Tribe Card serves as the official campus ID, providing access to facilities and payment options. Committed to enhancing the university experience, our dedicated team delivers reliable services that contribute to student success and community engagement.

Campus Bookstore – Located at 601 Prince George Street in Colonial Williamsburg, the William & Mary Spirit Shop and Bookstore, operated by Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, is the university's retail location for textbooks, general books and William & Mary memorabilia.

WM Dining Wellness (Allergy Concerns, Dietary Restrictions, Healthy Eating) – The WM Dining Wellness Manager is here to enhance safe dining experiences for all students all students. If a student has food allergies, or other special dietary restrictions, the Wellness Manager alongside culinarians and dining staff are here to support you. Please reach out with questions or needs via the following methods: our Golden Apron program, the text concierge, email, in-person, or DMs via our social media platforms. The Wellness Manager also supports any students looking to improve their wellness through food, and those looking to gain nutritional knowledge. As a Registered Dietitian, the Wellness Manager emphasizes an all-foods fit mindset and is here to start a dialogue on any dining nutrition questions or feedback. Dining Services (Meal Plans, Dinning Dollars, Special Diets, Campus Dietitian) – All undergraduate students residing in campus-managed housing are required to have a meal plan. Meal plans, accessed through your Tribe Card (student ID), include meal swipes and Dining Dollars. Meal swipes can be used in residential dining facilities and Dining Dollars are used as a cash equivalency at all retail dining locations. With two all-you-care-to-enjoy facilities, with one open from 7am – midnight daily, and ten retail-style locations, featuring national brands like Chick-fil-A, local partners, and food trucks, there is a wide variety on campus. FERPA – Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act – The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act is a federal law that affords students certain rights with respect to their education records and defines situations in which the university may release information from student records with student consent. These rights transfer from the parents to the student when the student either turns eighteen years old or enters a postsecondary educational institution, regardless of age. 

Financial Aid (FAFSA, Federal Work Study, Student Employment Opportunities) – As a public university, we work hard to keep the cost of our exceptional education affordable, and we commit our resources to need-based aid. We typically meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for in-state students, and qualifying out-of-state students may receive up to 25% of their full cost of attendance in grant aid. Financial Operations (Bursar’s Office) (Student Accounts , Collection of Tuition, Fees, Meal Plans, Housing, and Other University Charges) – Financial Operations at William & Mary and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science is responsible for providing comprehensive accounting and bursar services in support of the university’s primary mission of education, research and public service. Insurance Requirement - The university requires all full-time students and all F-1 or J-1 international students to have health insurance coverage throughout the entire school year as a condition of enrollment due to the extremely high cost of healthcare and the importance of adequate health insurance coverage. Every academic year, these students must either elect to enroll in or waive out of the Student Insurance Plan to comply with this requirement. Students with other adequate healthcare coverage must file a Waiver Request to avoid being billed for and enrolled in the W&M-sponsored Student Insurance Plan.

Parent Proxy – Proxy Access provides students with the ability to grant permission to their parents or guardians to view certain pages of information currently available in their student's Banner account. The student manages the creation of a proxy and the pages they can view. If a William & Mary student has granted you proxy access to their student information, you will receive an email with a web link and temporary PIN.

Parking & Transportation (Parking Decals, Visitor Parking, Special Event Parking, Bike Alliance, Airport Travel, Zipcar, WATA) – Parking and Transportation services at William & Mary are dedicated to providing William & Mary students, faculty and staff with a safe and organized campus, and the ability to get you where you need to go. [[parked]]  |  [[transport]]  |  757-221-4764

Passphrase – Passphrase is a new verification system designed to verify the identity of individuals requesting information from student education records. No information from student education records may be disclosed without consent of the student or an applicable exemption under the student records privacy policy. Established Release Types include: Academic Release, Financial Release, Conduct/Honor Release. 

Student Accountability & Restorative Practices  (Student Handbook, Honor & Conduct Codes, Resorative Practices) - We help students restore their community when harm has occurred. Our community values include personal and academic integrity, respect for the rights of others, and accepting personal responsibility. These values are reflected in the Honor Code, the Student Code of Conduct, and other university policies. SARP staff members provide services for students, faculty, and staff involving the university’s values and facilitate processes when student actions impact others. SARP also fosters meaningful student leadership through service opportunities on the Honor Council, Conduct Council, and the Conduct & Honor Advisor Program.

Student Health Insurance Plan – The Student Health Insurance Plan, designed especially for the students of W&M, is a school-sponsored group health plan that offers comprehensive benefits that is compliant with the Affordable Care Act and is a high-level Gold plan. The UnitedHealthcare StudentResources (UHCSR) policy, underwritten by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company, is intended to provide healthcare benefits at a reasonable price for professional services obtained from the on-campus Student Health Center and outside the campus utilizing a national network of healthcare providers and facilities. The Plan is a one-year term policy that begins on August 1 and ends on July 31 each year. All full-time students are eligible for and all F-1 or J-1 international students are required to enroll in this Student Health Insurance.

University Registrar (Transcripts, Degree Audits, Transfer Credits, Residency, Co-enrollment Programs, Veteran Benefits) – The Office of the University Registrar supports the primary educational mission of William & Mary. We offer assistance and service to students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and all other members of the William & Mary community. Whether you need to submit transfer credits, get help registering for classes, or get a transcript to send off for that great new job, we have you covered.

William & Mary Postal Services (Shipping and Receiving Mail) – We provide timely, reliable, and accurate processing and distribution of William & Mary’s internal and external mail. Your CSU/mailbox number is for a virtual mailbox that you will keep until you withdraw or graduate. You will receive an email notification for EVERY piece of mail that you receive. Your CSU # is located on the home page of the housing portal.

Academics

Arts & Sciences  (Undergraduate Studies, Graduate Studies) – The College of Arts & Sciences offers 8 graduate programs and more than 100 undergraduate majors and minors, offering breadth and depth of knowledge across the disciplines.

The Charles Center (Student Research, Honors Theses, Academic Internships, Scholars Programs, Study Away) – The Charles Center is W&M’s hub for transformative undergraduate research experiences beyond the classroom and across disciplines. Our honors and scholars programs, research and journalism initiatives, and research-centered internships create opportunities for students to put their liberal arts & sciences education into practice in mentored settings. We support undergraduate research at all stages — from idea to dissemination — through hands-on experiences that prepare students for lives and livelihoods of purpose. One out of every five W&M students benefits annually from Charles Center mentoring and programming as summer research or internship awardees, Monroe Scholars, WMSURE Scholars, 1693 Scholars, Sharpe Scholars, journalism program participants, or honors students.

Global Education (Study Abroad, Exchange Programs) – William & Mary is the #1 public university for study abroad. More than 55% of all undergraduates study abroad in their W&M careers. More than 850 undergraduate students study abroad each year in more than 55 countries around the world. The Global Education Office awards more than $700,000 for study abroad scholarships annually. Study abroad allows students to meet tthe educational objectives of the COLL 300 requirement.

Joint Degree Programme (International Joint Degree Partnered with University of St Andrews in Scotland) – The Joint Degree Programme between William & Mary and the University of St Andrews is one of the few international undergraduate joint degrees offered with a U.S. university. Students complete two years at each institution and earn a single diploma--a Bachelor of Arts (International Honours - with the insignia of both institutions). The Programme offers you a greater range of academic experiences than either school can offer on its own. It gives you the opportunity to experience two distinct intellectual and national cultures. Your studies will have more breadth than a traditional St Andrews degree as well as more specialization than is usual at William & Mary.

Mason School of Business (Undergraduate and Graduate Programs) – The Raymond A. Mason School of Business prepares students to lead with integrity, creativity, and purpose. Through rigorous undergraduate and graduate programs, we equip future business leaders to think critically, act ethically, and drive meaningful change in their organizations and communities. Rooted in William & Mary’s tradition of service and innovation, the Mason School of Business develops principled professionals ready to meet the evolving challenges of a global economy.

Reves Center for International Studies (International Collaborations, Global Education, Global Engagement, International Students and Scholars) – The Reves Center for International Studies is the hub of globalization and global engagement at William & Mary and home of the Global Education Office and the Office of International Students, Scholars and Programs. The Reves Center supports and promotes the internationalization of learning, teaching, research and global engagement across the university and around the world. [[international]]

School of Education (Undergraduate and Graduate Programs) – The School of Education’s graduate programs are designed to meet the needs of a diverse student population that includes full-time and part-time students, differently abled students, mid-career professionals responding to rapid changes in their respective fields, homemakers re-entering the paid work force, and recent recipients of bachelor’s or master’s degrees preparing for advanced positions in the field of education.

Swem Library (Get Help & Support, Borrow Books, Quite Study Spaces, Access Technology) – We are proud to offer a collection of more than one million books, journals, and films. Students can access our e-resources, such as e-books, databases, and streaming video, from anywhere in the world. Our librarians offer research support via in-person consultations and online chat 24/7. The main library, Swem Library, provides varied study areas, including group study rooms, a dedicated quiet study floor, collaboration booths, the state-of-the-art Reeder Media Center with studios and equipment for checkout, and more.

The Advising Center (Pre-Major Advising, Major Advisors, Fellowship Advising, Peer Advisors, Pre-Professional Program Advisors) – The Advising Center (formerly the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs) administers W&M’s academic advising structure. Undergraduate students work with faculty advisors to plan and accomplish their academic goals and have access to additional support through professional advisors in the Advising Center, pre-professional program advisors, and Peer Advisors. As a hub for advising, we help students connect with faculty advisors, explore curricular and co-curricular opportunities, and access resources that empower them to achieve personally and professionally fulfilling goals.

Washington Center - (D.C. Semester Program, D.C. Winter Seminars, D.C. Summer Institutes, D.C. Summer Session, Global Scholars Program, Verified, Modern Leadership) – The Washington Center is W&M’s “campus in the city,” delivering year-round applied learning, professional development, and career exploration for more than 450 undergraduates each year. For over 20 years, students have traded classroom lectures in Williamsburg for internships, alumni mentorship, and personalized support in the nation’s capital. Study in D.C. programs are open to all majors and offer a place of belonging and discovery, grounded in purpose-driven, place-based learning. In partnership with its Advisory Board, the Center awards more than $100K in scholarships annually to ensure these transformational opportunities remain accessible. Writing and Communication Center (One-On-One Writing Support) – At the Writing and Communication Center, we help you strengthen your writing and communication skills by providing resources, workshops, and individual support for all kinds of assignments and projects: academic essays, presentations, personal statements, applications, creative writing, digital communication, and more. By connecting students with professionals who understand that life extends beyond the classroom, Academic Wellbeing aims to take a holistic approach in helping students navigate both the academic and extracurricular aspects of their lives. Our team of student-centered professionals seeks to create an accessible, responsive, and
constructive space in which students can learn and practice the skills necessary to be active, independent, and confident learners. In addition to assisting students with common academic concerns, our office helps students further develop a sense of personal responsibility and accountability, navigate and find avenues to participate in university and campus culture, and hone their decision-making skills. Family Engagement (Family Orientation, Family Weekend, Webinar Series, Care Packages) – We want parents, families, and supporters to have all of the resources necessary for their William & Mary experience to be as enriching and rewarding as possible. The Haven (Confidential Resource for Gender-Based Violence/Harassment) – The Haven is a confidential resource center for students impacted by sexual violence, sexual harassment, relationship abuse or intimate-partner violence, stalking, and other gender-based discrimination. Students can meet with either professional staff or a trained peer advocate. The Haven provides support, information, and resources in a confidential setting.

Parent & Family Giving – The Office of Parent & Family Giving partners with families to enhance the William & Mary experience through philanthropy, engagement, and community building. Gifts to the Parents Fund provide support to high-impact areas across campus, including Campus Living, the Charles Center, Career Development & Professional Engagement, Health & Wellness, Inclusive Excellence, Student Leadership Development, Student Success and others that enhance student life and academic success. The Parent & Family Giving team is here to help facilitate your most meaningful impact at William & Mary and ensure that your students have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

Leadership support is recognized through the Sadler Circle which honors families who give $2,000 or more annually to the Parents Fund. The Parent & Family Council stewards families who make an annual gift of $10,000 or more to the Parents Fund and commit to considering other giving opportunities that reflect their philanthropic capacity and areas of personal passion at William & Mary. Student Accessibility Services (Accessibility, Mobility, Accommodations) – Student Accessibility Services works to create equitable educational opportunities for students with disabilities. The staff work with faculty and university offices to offer a variety of services for all William & Mary students with disabilities. SAS provides students with reasonable and appropriate accommodation for the duration of their time at the university and seeks to empower students to be agents and advocates for their needs.

Student Transition Engagement Programs (STEP) (Orientation, Move-In, myTribeguide, Convocation, Community & Distinctive Population Connections, University Rings, Transition Coaching & Support, First-Year & Transfer Honor Societies) – STEP supports the transition of students in, through, and out of their unique W&M experience by helping to develop community while providing services, outreach, and support encompassed within year-round Community and Distinctive Population Initiatives and signature annual programs—like New Student Orientation, Weeks of Welcome, Off Campus Education & Housing Fairs, Transfer Celebration Week, and our Find, Form, & Focus Your Experience (F3 YE) opportunities. Student Veteran Engagement (Applications, Transfer of Credits, Support Services, VA Education Benefits) – The Office of Student Veteran Engagement (OSVE) supports campus by connecting military and veteran students with resources across the university and beyond. Staff assist with finding academic support, research, or internship and employment opportunities. They also serve on the Military & Veteran Affairs team, coordinating initiatives across all schools and programs, working to expand veteran enrollment, and seeking support for other university veteran programs.

Health & Safety

Center for Mindfulness & Authentic Excellence (Authentic Excellence Initiative, Health Coaching, Building Connections & Bridging Differences) – The Center for Mindfulness & Authentic Excellence helps students cultivate resilience and well-being through programs like Self-Care Over Soothing, Health Coaching, and mindfulness practices. The center emphasizes the importance of optimizing—not maximizing—wellness across all eight dimensions of health, empowering students to flourish personally and academically.

Counseling Center (Mental Health, Relationships, Family Concerns, Identity Development, Personal Growth) – Located in the McLeod Tyler Wellness Center, we offer a range of mental health services to students wanting help with personal concerns. Our staff specializes in the developmental issues and clinical concerns common to college students such as relationship and family issues, academic and personal stress, identity development and personal growth.

Emergency Information (Tribe Alerts, Emergency Management Team, Emergency Notification System) – William & Mary is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for its students, faculty, employees and visitors to learn, teach, work and enjoy our beautiful campus and all it offers. In pursuit of that goal, the university takes a comprehensive approach to protecting the campus community and preparing for any emergency. Although a university campus is among the safest places you can be, we work every day to make our campus safer. William & Mary employs a structured tiered system for campuswide notifications through Rave Mobile Safety. Not all alert methods are used in every situation, but the multi-platform system ensures you receive important updates regardless of the incident. Health Promotion (Selfcare Over Soothing (SOS), Events with Alcohol Training (EAT), I Can I Will Courage Intervention, Workshops and Training on a Variety of Health Topics) – Located in the McLeod Tyler Wellness Center, we work to enhance the overall health and wellness of the W&M campus community through evidence-informed prevention efforts. Student Health Center (Primary Care Services, Physical, Mental Health, Social Health) – Located in the McLeod Tyler Wellness Center, we provide a full-range of primary care services.  All full-time students with a completed Health Evaluation Form are eligible to receive care at the Student Health Center.

Timely Care – William & Mary partners with TimelyCare, a virtual platform that expands mental health and wellness resources beyond our on-campus Counseling Center. Students can access licensed providers in all 50 states at no cost if they have paid the W&M Health-Fee. Online students pay a nominal fee of $12 per semester, and no insurance is required.

Services include:

  • TalkNow: 24/7 on-demand mental health and emotional support
  • Counseling: Ongoing, appointment-based sessions (up to 12 per year)
  • Psychiatric support: Available with referral
  • Health coaching: Unlimited access worldwide to support healthy lifestyle habits

Students can choose their provider based on availability, specialization, and identity, with flexible scheduling—including evenings and weekends. Access is easy: download the TimelyCare app and connect with care that fits your needs.

W&M Police Department  WMPD is part of the University’s Division of Public Safety.  William & Mary police officers are fully certified through the Commonwealth of Virginia and receive the same training as municipal police officers.  WMPD practices community policing through community partnerships.  WMPD’s core values include Integrity, Professionalism, Fair and Impartial Policing, and Community Focus.  We are an accredited agency through the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC).  WMPD is a full-service police department and is available 24/7/365.  We have patrol, investigations, and emergency communications functions and offer personalized safety plans to community members.  Our focus is keeping the William & Mary community safe and facilitating an environment where people feel safe.  757-221-4596
