Professional Development Center Housed in the School of Education building, the PDC offers a wide variety of venue space for your next event.

Professional Development Center For large events, classrooms are an excellent breakout space option. Most classrooms feature tables and chairs on wheels to allow a wide variety of seating configurations.

Professional Development Center Adjacent to several of the meeting rooms is the Concourse with space for registration and a double-sided buffet, as well as comfortable seating with outlets for laptop charging.

Professional Development Center With seating for 24 in executive-style leather chairs, the board room is equipped with audio and video conferencing capabilities.

Professional Development Center The 3585 sq. ft. Matoaka Wookds meeting room seats 240 at rounds or nearly 400 for plenary sessions. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a lovely view of the woods.

Professional Development Center The Holly Room holds 88 at rounds or 136 with theatre style seating. The dual projection screens make it easy for participants to view presentations.

The 11,000 square foot Professional Development Center (PDC) is the School of Education's main venue for hosting meetings, conferences, and other events. The PDC can accommodate meetings for 10 to 375 people.

While the central mission is to serve as an attractive, functional meeting facility for professional development activities sponsored by the School of Education.  The PDC is also available to private organizations, individuals and non-academic student groups as a professional setting for business and social functions, as available and appropriate.

Green Meetings

The building, built in 2010, was awarded with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification from the U.S Green Building Council.

Catering

The Professional Development Center allows a number of caterers to service its conference groups. We realize that the varied needs of our conference groups are best served by allowing varied caterers, each with their own flair and style of service. Talk with your event coordinator to learn more about the options.

Parking

Guests display a complimentary parking pass in their windshield. Passes can be distributed electronically to participants so they can print and post the pass upon arrival. In most cases, there is adequate parking directly surrounding the School of Education to accommodate guests.

Audio & Visual Technology

Rental of the LCD projector, screen and podium microphone are included in the room rental cost.  They installed easy-to-operate equipment where the screen drops and the projector turns on with a touch of the finger. Additional equipment such as lavaliere microphones, document cameras, and DVD recorders are readily available for a nominal usage charge.
