Library dean search

Provost Michael Halleran sent the following message to the campus community on Friday, April 16, 2010. - Ed.

Over the next two weeks, three candidates for the position of Dean of University Libraries will be visiting the campus.  Each one of them presents excellent credentials and backgrounds, and I am excited at their upcoming visits.  The search committee has done great work in coming up with this list of finalists.

In addition to meetings with various groups¬Swem staff, deans, search committee members, administrators, etc.¬each candidate will also hold a forum open to the entire campus community.  This is a very busy time of year, but I hope you will be able to attend these sessions.    The times and dates for these sessions are:

Lynn Sutton                Thursday, April 22, Tidewater A @ 3:30
Valerie Hotchkiss     Tuesday, April 27, Tidewater A @ 3:30
Mark Jacobs               Thursday, April 29, Tidewater A @ 3:30

For more information, including the candidates' bios and CVs and a link to a "candidate evaluation form," please go to http://www.wm.edu/librarydeansearch/.  I invite your comments, as they will be valuable to the President and me in selecting the next Dean of University Libraries.  Please note that although the evaluation form requires a login with W&M, this is only to insure that it is limited to members of the W&M community; the comments themselves are anonymous.  Thank you for your participating in this important process.
