President Taylor Reveley sent the following note to the campus July 31regarding an enhanced role at the College for Chon Glover - Ed.

Dear Campus Community,

For the last five years, Dr. W. Fanchon (Chon) Glover has been an Assistant to the President advising Tim Sullivan and Gene Nichol, and now me, about diversity and serving as a liaison between the administration and the student body.  Since 1996, Dr. Glover has also worked in the Division of Student Affairs as Director of Multicultural Affairs and most recently as the Interim Assistant Vice President.

Dr. W. Fanchon (Chon) GloverI am delighted to report that, effective August 1, 2009, and subject to approval by the Board of Visitors in September, Chon will become the full-time Assistant to the President for Diversity and Community Initiatives.  In this role she will be among our senior administrators, working in particular on the Strategic Plan's second challenge, which focuses on diversity and on building community generally.  During her thirteen years at William & Mary, Chon has won the respect of students, faculty and staff.  She has shown an extraordinary capacity to work with people from all backgrounds and widely ranging views.

Dr. Glover is a graduate of Presbyterian College, where she earned her B.S. in sociology and worked as her alma mater's first director of minority affairs and student volunteer services.  Since coming to the College, she has earned a masters and doctorate in higher education administration from our School of Education.

In Chon's words, “I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve as a catalyst for a campus community that increasingly recognizes and respects the multitude of voices, stories, and perspectives that are William & Mary today."
