Honestly Remembering, Together

Examining history through a one‑credit seminar and weeklong journey

May 17 - May 23, 2026

Honestly Remembering, Together invites students into a two‑part learning experience that examines how the Civil Rights Movement is memorialized in the United States. Through a one‑credit seminar held after Spring Break, students study the rhetoric and politics of remembrance. We then embark on a weeklong experiential journey to key Civil Rights sites in Nashville and Birmingham, culminating in a visit to the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama, to engage directly with the histories and legacies explored in class.
