featuring Orchesis Modern Dance Company
A concert of original works created by William & Mary dance faculty, and performed by faculty, guest artists, and members of the Orchesis Modern Dance Company.
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

A modern twist on a Shakespeare classic, star-crossed lovers Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet hope their love will be the end of an ages-old feud between their families. Parties quickly turn to bloodshed and secrets turn to tragedies as the lovers’ schemes fall apart.

By the Way, Meet Vera Stark by Lynn Nottage

From Dramatists Play Service: “In a new comedy from the Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright of Ruined, Lynn Nottage draws upon the screwball films of the 1930s to take a funny and irreverent look at racial stereotypes in Hollywood. BY THE WAY, MEET VERA STARK is a seventy-year journey through the life of Vera Stark, a headstrong African-American maid and budding actress, and her tangled relationship with her boss, a white Hollywood star desperately grasping to hold on to her career. When circumstances collide and both women land roles in the same Southern epic, the story behind the cameras leaves Vera with a surprising and controversial legacy scholars will debate for years to come."

A Year with Frog and Toad
APRIL 25-28
Music: Robert Reale and Book & Lyrics: Willie Reale

Based on the books by Arnold Lobel
From Music Theatre International: “A hit on Broadway, A Year with Frog and Toad was nominated for three Tony Awards – including Best Musical. Based on Arnold Lobel's well-loved books, and featuring a hummable score by Robert and Willie Reale, this whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons.

Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make believe... all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.

The jazzy, upbeat score of A Year with Frog and Toad bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant and enchanting musical for the whole family."

Registering for and attending events at William & Mary conveys a shared expectation of abiding by university policy, which is subject to change as conditions warrant.
