Language Houses

Want an international experience while still living on campus?

Language House Advisors & International Fellows hosting an International Desserts Night - September 2023
We are proud to offer 8 residence halls dedicated to the study of language and culture. In these houses, you will live and study with other students of a language, and be part of a welcoming community!

Each house hosts a native-speaking International Fellow for that language. The fellows also plan special events like movie nights, cooking classes and cultural celebrations. Read some former language house residents comments about their experiences living in these houses and what makes them so special!

We have language houses for:2023-2024 International Fellows and Language House Coordinator

Since the 2020-2021 academic year, the language houses relocated to residence halls that are ADA accessible in order for students of all abilities to have the opportunity to participate in our language houses programs. Landrum Hall and Hardy Hall are the spaces housing these amazing cultural nooks on campus.

If you would like to apply, please carefully review the housing process for next academic year. Residence Life offers gender inclusive housing options, click the following link to know more about Gender Inclusive Housing.
You do NOT need to be a major to live in a Language House, but you should have a basic background in the target language equivalent to the 100 level. Students enrolled in MLL's courses will have preference to live in the houses over students who are not. The language houses are open to sophomore, junior, and senior students.

For more information about the program, contact [[bmtyle, Modern Languages & Literatures]]. To apply, please see Residence Life.
