Undergraduate Program

The Department of Religious Studies offers a B.A. in Religion with majors in Contemplative Studies, Judaic Studies, and Religious Studies. Our courses provide in-depth study of religious traditions, spiritualities, past and lived experiences explored within a variety of cultural and social contexts. Our undergraduate program is designed to expose students to diverse worldviews and interdisciplinary methods in cross-cultural and comparative frameworks. Our curricular strengths include courses on religious traditions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; histories of religions; theories and methods in the study of religion; comparative study of religious ethics; and religions in the Americas.

Religious Studies faculty regularly teach COLL 100 and COLL 150 courses for first-year students. Many of our courses also fulfill COLL 200, COLL 300, and COLL 350 requirements. All courses without prerequisites welcome students interested in the study of religion, including 300-level and 400-level courses. See the Catalog for our current course offerings.
