Bio

Bennett holds a B.A. in Art History from Randolph-Macon College and an M.A. in History from Old Dominion University and the College of William & Mary. His research focuses broadly on the antebellum and Civil War-era United States. He is particularly interested in how abolitionism and Southern unionism shaped the social and cultural characteristics of the urban South, and how these transgressive movements have been remembered over time.
