Bio
Travis Lee is a first-year PhD student at William & Mary. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 2022, where he earned a BA in History and minored in Chinese Studies. In his undergraduate research, he examined the people and perceptions that circulated through the trade networks formed as European and American merchants traveled from the Pacific Northwest to Hawaii and China at the end of the eighteenth century. He continues to research these trade networks, while also exploring other aspects of Chinese and American relations in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Travis is currently an Editorial Apprentice at the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture.
