Anthropology Professor Andrea Wright Receives the Jinlan Liu APIA Faculty Research Award

Professor Andrea Wright at the Department of Anthropology was nominated as the inaugural awardee of the Jinlan Liu APIA Faculty Research Award for her excellent research project "Oil, Green Energy, Racialized Labor, and Visions for the Future." Dr. Wright has conducted extensive ethnographic studies across India, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The research project sheds light on the relationship between the development of energy infrastructure, working condition, nationality, and social inequality using a trans-national, comprartive perspective. Dr. Wright will give a talk about her new research project at the award acknowledgement luncheon event co-hosted by Asian & Pacific Islander American Studies (APIA), Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (AMES), and Asian Centennial on September 17, 2021. While remaining transnational in perspective, Dr. Wright's new project will also attend to energy policies and community engagements in Virginia. The Jinlan Liu APIA Faculty Research Endowment Program was established in 2019 by the Han Zhang & Jinlan Liu Family Foundation with the vision of enhancing research excellence at William & Mary.
