Major Advising

Students traditionally declare their majors in the spring of their sophomore year. To declare a chemistry major, follow the steps below:

  1. Complete one major declaration form (available in the chemistry office, or request by email [[Chemistry, chemistry office]])
    • Standard Chemistry Major
    • Chemistry major with a Concentration in Biochemistry 
    • Chemistry major with a Concentration in Chemical Physics 
  2. Ask any chemistry faculty member to serve as your major advisor.
  3. Meet with your major advisor to review your plans and sign your form.
  4. Submit the original signed declaration to the Registrar's Office.

If needed, the department chair may also serve as your major advisor. [[chemis, Email]] or drop by the Chemistry Office to schedule an advising appointment with the chair.
