Featured Flathat News Video: "Why the Muscarelle Museum of Art is Closing"

{{youtube:medium:center|bGZDLJwZMlE, In this short documentary we'll present several perspectives on the Museum's expansion from people who are involved.}}

The Museum is currently displaying its fifteenth Studio Art faculty show, an exhibition featuring works from the university’s art faculty, visiting instructors, and emeriti professors. However, it should be known that Faculty Show 15 will be the museum’s last exhibition presented in the current building, as the institution is set for a temporary closure in the wake of plans to transform the museum into something bigger and better: the Martha Wren Briggs Center for the Visual Arts is a thirty-five million dollar, privately funded expansion to the Muscarelle, adding halls, offices, galleries, and so much more to the large empty space next to Boswell hall.

This 2023-2024 construction project is the museum’s second renovation, expanding not only infrastructure, but also the opportunities for both the Museum and the University’s Art department to showcase, promote, and celebrate all forms of creative expression.
