Pre-College Program in American History

Start Your Future by Studying the Past...

The National Institute of American History & Democracy (NIAHD) is proud to host the Pre-College Program in American History at William & Mary for rising high school juniors, seniors, and rising college freshmen.

Students in NIAHD’s Pre-College Program use an interdisciplinary approach as they study American history. Our classes teach students how to analyze material objects, landscapes, buildings, oral histories, and archaeological artifacts as primary sources with and in addition to written records. Pre-College students will go beyond information in textbooks, challenge themselves to think deeply about American history, and learn about history where it happened.

As of 6 June, the only class that is still open is our synchronous virtual course History 212--The Civil War in American Memory.
